Background / History
Miko became involved with ghosts and cultivation, developing into a Devilish Cultivator while retaining an ordinary school and family life. She learned that the Devilish Dao is defined by pursuing one’s personal goals, leading her to recognize her own connection to it 24 25.
She initially focused on eliminating ghosts, refining techniques, and producing talismans. Her work was labor-intensive: she had learned more than thirty talismans and spent sleepless nights testing them and optimizing their placement in protective dolls for Hana and Yuria 24 27.
After resolving the Gate of the Underworld incident in Kawamori, Miko revealed her identity as a Divine Gate Special Investigator to her family. She later joined the organization on negotiated terms, seeking an official identity, resources, and assistance with supernatural incidents 81 82.
Her growing influence led the One family to grant her a seat on the Divine Gate’s highest council. This gave her authority over operational departments nationwide unless other council members intervened 100. Although capable of dominating the world through Devilish Dao techniques, Miko’s stated aim was not rule; she sought to identify and deter those who knew her identity and might threaten her life 92.
Miko later faced a Heavenly Devil pursuing her. She survived a heart-piercing attack and destroyed its true spirit using a modified Xuanming Tribulation Fire 117. Her rapid cultivation has also left her vulnerable to mutation and Heavenly Devil intrusion 128 149.
Appearance
Miko is a pretty girl who inherited her mother Touko’s looks. She usually wears her long hair loose and favors neutral clothing, though cultivation has made her increasingly partial to Daoist robes 25 65.
- Golden eyes noted by Yuria after Miko killed a powerful ghost 23.
- Long, loose hair; seen wearing a beige jacket while traveling in Kawamori 65.
- Prefers practical or neutral-styled clothing over fashion 25.
- Has a healed scar on her right hand 27.
Personality
Miko is calm, observant, and intensely practical. She routinely balances school, family, and supernatural work, and she treats dangerous situations as problems to be solved through preparation, artifacts, or direct force. Her strength does not erase her fear: she has reflected on death, exhaustion, rapid advancement, and the risks her power brings 25 27 28.
She is protective toward people she considers hers, especially Kyosuke, Hana, and Yuria. However, she often withholds information and avoids discussing her own emotions, even when this creates distance in her relationships 56 63 113.
Miko can be ruthless toward threats. She killed Shimakawa Kameyo after discovering his use of a technique resembling the Life Spiritual Qi Extraction Method, considered killing Yamada Mukawa, eliminated Kawagen family targets after an assassination attempt, and burned armed attackers with deep purple fire 103 104 110 113. She nevertheless has a moral boundary and does not seek power for its own sake 107 144.
