Background / History

Yuria could see ghosts from childhood. Her unusual sight made her an outcast among her peers, leaving her withdrawn, distrustful of kindness, and convinced that relying on others would only lead to betrayal. Her parents were often absent due to work and attempted to compensate through money rather than communication, further deepening her isolation. 19 46 102 135

She first approached Yotsuya Miko after secretly observing her. Believing Miko to be another Psychic, Yuria demanded to know her secret; instead, Miko exposed the limits of Yuria’s prayer beads and helped her survive a ghost encounter. 18 Miko later encouraged Yuria to connect with Hana, gave her a mushroom-shaped protective doll, and invited her into their lunchtime routine. 23 35 36

Motivated by her fear of helplessness, Yuria accepted Miko’s plan to train with Takeda Mie. Cultivation gave her a path toward becoming an Exorcist capable of protecting herself rather than merely enduring the spirits she saw. 45 47 48

Appearance

Yuria is a petite blonde girl who usually wears her hair in twin tails. Her distinctive fashion centers on mushroom motifs, contrasting with the reserved, serious impression she often gives others. 38 135

  • Golden-blonde twin tails. 19 135
  • Ruby-like eyes. 107
  • Frequently wears mushroom accessories, including a poisonous-mushroom hair ornament. 23 38 41
  • Uses black nail polish and mushroom-patterned accessories. 38
  • Wore a tailored suit while serving at her class’s Cultural Festival café. 135

Personality

Yuria is cautious, private, and slow to trust. Years of being mocked or avoided for seeing ghosts made her view unsolicited kindness with suspicion, and she is especially unwilling to risk being humiliated after trying to fit in. 46 58 When she decides someone is not worth dealing with, she can be strikingly blunt, as seen in her early confrontations with Kaishoku Shugaku. 50 54

Despite her guarded nature, Yuria deeply wants companionship. Miko and Hana’s friendship gradually helps her become more open, and she shows genuine loyalty to people she considers important. Her desire to become stronger originates both in self-preservation and in her wish not to remain isolated or powerless. 47 48 98

She is perceptive and politically minded, capable of understanding the implications of the Life Spiritual Qi Extraction Method and advising Miko on Divine Gate matters. 90 92 103 However, she can become flustered around romance, and her attempt to perform the “Blood-Eyed Yuria” persona is notably unconvincing. 38 55
