Cyclops stared at Su Mu in utter shock. He never expected the White Devil to say something like that!
"You... You really are a demon!"
Phoenix and Storm were just as stunned as they stared at the White Devil before them. At the sight of his brazen grin and his cold, azure eyes, goosebumps spread across their bodies before they even realized it.
Only now did they finally understand what the Professor had meant. If they left the White Devil alone, he would eventually bring about consequences they could never undo.
Even though he already knew the White Devil was gradually straying down the wrong path, Professor X was still deeply shaken by his unrestrained words. A fear rose from the depths of his heart, and even his soul trembled faintly!
They couldn't let him go on like this. If they did, in the not-too-distant future, he would become a walking natural disaster!
Thinking of what might happen, Professor X's expression turned grave. He spoke in a low voice:
"Su Mu, you've already set foot on the wrong path. You can't keep falling further!
"You possess enough power to overturn the world. You should use it for the right cause, not mindlessly slaughter people!
"Slaughter won't solve anything. It will only make problems more complicated and more heated, pushing us toward an even more irreparable situation!"
Cyclops, Storm, and Phoenix all nodded deeply. They strongly believed in Professor X's ideals:
"Peace maintained through violence isn't stable!
"Only peace achieved through peaceful means, with Mutants and ordinary people living side by side, can last!
"They had always fought for this ideal, constantly thwarting the Brotherhood of Mutants' wicked plans and forming the X-Men to combat crime and change ordinary people's prejudice against Mutants.
"Of course, bringing the White Devil back from the wrong path was part of that goal—and had even become the X-Men's most important objective lately!"
At Professor X's words, Su Mu looked thoughtful.
"That's right. You're absolutely correct. Peace maintained through violence really can't last..."
At Su Mu's words, Professor X and the others relaxed. It seemed the White Devil had simply lacked guidance before and had gone astray.
Now that he had heard the Professor's advice, he had immediately seen the error of his ways!
"But..."
Suddenly, the White Devil before them broke into that familiar, savage grin again. Professor X and the others felt a growing sense of dread...
"What if there's another possibility?
"Maybe I'm not violent enough, not cruel enough! Maybe I'm still far too weak!
"If I'm strong enough, my mere existence will silence every dissenting voice. As long as I'm standing there, no one will dare say no!
"Then I'll be strong enough. That will be true peace!"
Professor X's expression changed dramatically. Cyclops was ready to take off his glasses at any moment, while Storm's hair lifted into the air. The clear sky suddenly transformed, with lightning and gale-force winds intertwining!
Su Mu paid the most attention to Phoenix. A flash of crimson flickered in her eyes!
However, Black Phoenix was still sealed by Professor X. Phoenix was nowhere near a match for Su Mu at the moment.
The ordinary people nearby screamed and fled. In moments, the street was left with only Su Mu and the X-Men facing off against him.
Facing two Level 5 Mutants, one Grade 4 Mutant, and a bonus Grade 3 nobody, Su Mu smiled faintly and took a step forward!
A glimmer of power flashed in his azure eyes. An immense repulsive force radiated from him, spreading rapidly and destroying everything around him!
Terrifying, dense cracks spread from beneath Su Mu's feet, covering an area dozens of meters wide. Only a small patch ahead, where the X-Men stood, remained intact!
Storm immediately conjured a gale, working with Phoenix's telekinesis to resist the immense repulsive force with all their might. But against such overwhelming force, they could only keep retreating!
At the sight of this, Cyclops immediately removed his specialized glasses. Two thick laser beams shot from his eyes, charging straight toward the arrogant White Devil!
But the laser beams, powerful enough to slice through steel, suddenly slowed when they came within ten centimeters of the White Devil. They could only creep toward him at an incredibly sluggish pace!
Su Mu watched the laser inching toward him with curiosity. As expected, the Limitless Technique still couldn't fully stop laser attacks—not at least at Lv. 2.
But as its level increased, the Limitless Technique would surely be able to easily block laser attacks, poison, and even spatial attacks!
For now, though, he still had to deal with the laser...
Under Cyclops's astonished gaze, Su Mu raised one hand and placed it in the laser's path. The beam, which had been struggling to creep forward, struck his flesh—and failed to pierce it. Instead, it visibly dimmed!
"What!"
Cyclops stared at the sight before him in shock, even wondering if something was wrong with his mutant ability.
"How can he stop my laser with his bare flesh?"
The learned Professor X immediately spotted the problem.
"No, he didn't forcibly stop your laser. He's absorbing the energy contained in it!"
"What!"
At Professor X's explanation, Phoenix and Storm were even more astonished.
"Professor, isn't the White Devil's Energy Absorption only capable of absorbing a small amount of energy?
"How can he absorb Scott's laser now?"
Professor X's expression was extremely grave as he answered them. There was only one explanation:
"The White Devil's mutant abilities can grow stronger over time, and he can even gain new mutant abilities as time passes!
"And his growth seems to have no limit. He's even getting stronger faster and faster!"
Phoenix and the others couldn't believe Professor X's analysis. But if that was true, it explained everything about the White Devil.
As they looked at Su Mu, even the resilient X-Men showed a hint of fear. Could such a terrifying mutant ability really exist?
Not even a Level 5 Mutant could do something like this!
By now, they had all reached the same conclusion: no matter how great the cost, they had to stop the White Devil and bring him back to the right path!
Because they had finally realized that if the White Devil completely lost control, the result would be more than just a devastating disaster. It could very well mean the end of the world!
In a red sea of consciousness, a red-haired, red-eyed figure watched the outside world through Phoenix's eyes. She stared blankly at the white-haired figure before her, listening to Professor X's astonishing analysis...
Black Phoenix stared at the White Devil in disbelief. As Professor X had repeatedly tried to reason with her, she had wondered whether she herself was too extreme, and had even loathed the immense power she possessed...
But now, all she could say was...
What was she, compared to him?
That guy was the real demon. He was way too extreme!
