Momochi Zabuza, once a ninja who commanded the winds of battle, now appeared utterly exhausted. He took a long look at Haku beside him, a flicker of resolve in his eyes, then slowly raised his hand in a gesture of surrender. "Do as you will..." His voice was low and hoarse, steeped in deep resignation and unwillingness.

After the battle with Naruto and Haku's two reckless acts of throwing himself in front of him, a seismic shift had taken place deep in Momochi Zabuza's heart. He began to reexamine the bond between himself and Haku—that tie once based solely on missions and self-interest now seemed hollow and frail.

Just then, the sound of hurried footsteps shattered the silence of the scene. Gato, the wealthy merchant who had hired Momochi Zabuza, had been alarmed by Naruto's earth-shaking curse technique "Azure" and rushed to the spot with a group of underlings.

He had assumed it was just an ordinary gunpowder explosion, but he never expected to witness this: his right-hand man had chosen to surrender.

"I'm disappointed, Zabuza." Gato's voice was cold and imperious, his eyes wide as he fixed his gaze on Momochi Zabuza.

Gato's men chimed in, their eyes brimming with contempt and mockery for Momochi Zabuza.

Momochi Zabuza turned to look at Gato, his voice low as he asked, "Gato, why are you here? And what's with all these men you've brought?"

Gato tapped his cane and sneered, "The battle plan changed a little. Sorry, Zabuza, but you'll have to die here."

Momochi Zabuza's eyes widened in disbelief. "What did you say?"

Gato explained, "Hiring proper ninja costs a fortune, so I hired a rogue ninja like you. And if you ninja kill each other off, it saves me both time and money."

Then Gato spat, "Tch, they call you the Demon of the Hidden Mist? What a joke. If you ask me, you're nothing but a cute little brat."

The men behind Gato burst into laughter, as if enjoying a fine show.

"This isn't good..." Kakashi muttered to himself, his gaze sweeping quickly over every person Gato had brought, assessing their strength and intent.

Momochi Zabuza's eyes darkened. He looked at Naruto and said, "Naruto Uzumaki, sorry, but I no longer have any reason to kill Tazuna."

Naruto nodded in understanding.

Gato slowly walked up to Haku, staring at the dying boy lying before Momochi Zabuza, and bared a vicious expression. "I've got a score to settle with him too. He broke my wrist before."

With that, he kicked Haku hard in the face. Haku, already gravely wounded and unable to move, could only endure the blow.

Gato sneered, "Tch, half-dead piece of trash."

Naruto's eyes turned dark. He looked at Momochi Zabuza and asked, "Aren't you going to do something? This is your comrade. Do you really see him as just a tool?"

Momochi Zabuza replied flatly, "He's just a tool to me."

Naruto pressed on, "But I can tell he admires you deeply, even willing to give his life for you."

Momochi Zabuza fell silent. He recalled the past—how he had treated Haku as a tool, a pawn to be used and sacrificed at will. But now, seeing Haku's helpless yet resolute eyes, he realized he had been wrong, terribly wrong.

"Haku isn't a tool. He's my partner, someone I should cherish and protect." A firm resolve surged in Momochi Zabuza's heart. He no longer hesitated, no longer wavered. He knew what he had to do and how to do it.

"Naruto Uzumaki, I lost." Momochi Zabuza let out a relieved smile, then his expression turned cold and resolute.

He spun around abruptly, grabbing the heavy blade beside him. The edge gleamed coldly in the sunlight. His movements were swift and decisive, each step thudding against the ground.

"Gato!" Momochi Zabuza's low roar echoed through the air. He raised the massive sword high, his form like a black bolt of lightning as he charged straight at Gato.

Seeing this, Gato's face turned deathly pale, the arrogance and confidence in his eyes replaced by terror.

"Quick! Stop him!" Gato shouted in panic, retreating as he ordered his men to block the way.

But though the men were numerous, faced with Zabuza's fierce momentum, they became like lambs to the slaughter, each one shrinking back, too afraid to step forward.

Confronted by the demonic Momochi Zabuza, Gato was scared out of his wits. So he simply hid within the encirclement of his men, hoping to use their numbers to fend off Zabuza's attack. But in doing so, he only enraged Zabuza further.
