Geography and Administration
- Qingshan Town lies roughly twenty li from Shuanglin Village and serves as the nearest town for hunters from the Qingliang Mountain region to sell their prey. 3 12
- It is a large town under Anyuan County Town, with a considerable population as well as dozens of surrounding villages and market towns. 59
- Its place in the regional hierarchy is: Qingshan Town → Anyuan County Town → prefectural city → commandery city → provincial city → royal capital. 121
- Qingliang Mountain behind the town makes the area unusually dangerous; consequently, the county government stationed a Town Supervisor but no Patrol Inspector in Qingshan Town. 59
- Yuan Chengshan, the ninth-rank Town Supervisor, oversees taxation, public security, and economic affairs. A late Meridian Opening Realm Martial Artist, he is effectively the town's sole governmental authority. 59
Economy and Society
- Hunters from nearby Qingliang Mountain bring game to town for sale. Green Wolf meat is particularly valued by wealthy households, which also operate much of the town's farmland, restaurants, and grain stores. 28 39
- Qingshan Town has a clear social divide between common hunters and prominent families. The latter's children can reserve better accommodations at Guande Martial Arts School and associate with figures such as Fang Xinwu. 30 34
- Tianxiang Tower, the town's largest restaurant, occupies the central main street. Built by a wealthy local family together with a force from Anyuan County Town, it caters to wealthy patrons, prominent families, and Martial Artists. 34
- The Yue family operates a prosperous dyeing workshop and is considered wealthy, though not among the town's greatest landowning families. 102
- Major martial-arts exchanges can draw spectators and wealthy families from Qingshan Town and neighboring large towns. 48
Major Locations
- Guande Martial Arts School — Founded by the injured, retired Tendon Changing Realm Martial Artist Yu Guande. It was Qingshan Town's first—and at the time, only—martial arts school with a Tendon Changing Realm expert. 28
- Tianxiang Tower — A prosperous three-story restaurant on the central main street. 34
- Qingshan Town Government Office — Administrative center where Martial Artists redeem official bounties for slain Fire Worship Cult members. 62 74
- Wangyue Pavilion — A northern-town pavilion affiliated with the Wangyue Pavilion power in Anyuan County Town; it was infiltrated by Fire Worship Cult members. 101 108
- Yue Family Residence — A wealthy residence on a main street in northern Qingshan Town; Cult Demons targeted it as a potential Fire Worship Cult gathering point. 102
- Eastern Ruined Temple — An abandoned temple in the eastern suburbs. It fell into disrepair after a former monk descended into demonic ways and was killed by experts dispatched from Anyuan County Town. 79
- Golden Saber Gang — A powerful northern-town gang once led by Jin Wanhu, whose strength was sufficient to draw with Yuan Chengshan despite having lower cultivation. 79 85
- Wild Wolf Gang — A gang based in a market town west of Qingshan Town; it was controlled by Fire Worship Cult members before being annihilated. 61
Security and Martial Affairs
Black Wind Stockade's Shadow
Qingshan Town's proximity to Qingliang Mountain exposed its surrounding villages and hunting routes to Black Wind Stockade. Its guards sold plundered meat in town, while its leaders' connection to the Huang Family of Anyuan County Town protected the stockade from decisive suppression. 13 24
After Black Eagle Sect disciples negotiated with Huang Heilong, Black Wind Stockade stopped seizing hunters' prey and collecting taxes from nearby villagers, though the stockade itself remained intact. 24
Guande Martial Arts School
Guande Martial Arts School became a major local force by teaching the Azure Origin Body Tempering Art, which gave ordinary people a relatively high chance of becoming Martial Artists. Its popularity drew students away from other towns' martial arts schools and prompted formal “exchanges” that were effectively challenges. 41
During the Fire Worship Cult crisis, the school answered Yuan Chengshan's request for aid and dispatched Meridian Opening Realm disciples to cooperate with government forces. 59 60
Fire Worship Cult Crisis
The Fire Worship Cult entered Qingshan Town to rescue Chou Jinping from Qingliang Mountain. Its followers spread unrest, massacred at least one wealthy family, infiltrated gangs, and sought to bewitch civilians for cultivation. 58 59 61
The town government and Anyuan County Town offered six hundred taels of silver for every Meridian Opening Realm Cult Demon killed, attracting martial artists and schools from surrounding towns to the campaign. 62
By the time Su Mo reached the mid-@@REF_ENTITY_9142386@@, the Cult Demons within Qingshan Town had largely been eliminated. Qingliang Mountain remained off-limits due to surviving Tendon Changing Realm Cult Demons and the continuing pursuit of Chou Jinping. 120 125 126
History
- Hunters from Shuanglin Village regularly traveled to Qingshan Town to trade game, making it the principal market settlement for communities near Qingliang Mountain. 3 12
- Yu Guande returned to his hometown to retire and established Guande Martial Arts School, bringing a Tendon Changing Realm expert and accessible cultivation instruction to the town. 27 28
- The school’s rise disrupted nearby martial arts schools by attracting students from other towns, culminating in major martial-arts exchanges held in Qingshan Town. 41 48
- Fire Worship Cult followers infiltrated the town while attempting to reach Qingliang Mountain and free Chou Jinping. The government allied with Guande Martial Arts School to hunt them down. 58 59
- The Wild Wolf Gang was destroyed after cultists used it to abduct civilians and cultivate evil techniques. 61
- County-town prodigies from forces including Yin Yang Cave, Black Eagle Sect, Profound Ice Sect, the Lin Family, and the Wang Family later arrived, drawn by government rewards and Chou Jinping's Ninefold Primordial Treasure Body. 97 98
- Cult Demons were uncovered within the Yue family and Wangyue Pavilion. Su Mo eliminated the five Meridian Opening Realm Cult Demons occupying Wangyue Pavilion. 101 102 108
- The arrival of county-town disciples brought security assistance but also increased friction, as some outsiders bullied local martial-arts-school disciples and dismissed Qingshan Town as a remote, insignificant place. 98 109 125 126
