"Ding-dong, ding-dong~~ Ding-dong, ding-dong~~"
The pleasant chime rang out suddenly. The proctor, who had been pacing between the desks, clapped his hands and said sternly:
"Everyone, put your pens down and stand up immediately! Place your scratch paper, Exam Paper, and answer sheet on your desk in that order. Don't leave anything else behind!"
At his words, every student—whether they had finished the Exam Paper long ago or were still writing furiously—abruptly froze like a machine with its pause button pressed.
The three gods had already taken exams all day and knew the routine. They were only allowed to leave after the teacher collected their answer sheets, scratch paper, and Exam Papers.
For various reasons, the three gods had never met at school before. Now, they gathered together without meaning to, but could only stare at one another, unsure how to start a conversation.
"Heris, what was the answer to question three?"
Suddenly, a student's voice cut in from nearby. Like a switch being flipped, it roused the students from their silence. They quickly gathered in groups and began discussing the Exam Paper, leaving only the three gods and a few Incubi assigned to that exam room quiet.
"How did you do?" ×3
At nearly the same moment, all three gods asked the same question in unison. Then came another long silence.
In the end, God of Nightmares was the first to speak, sounding a little awkward:
"I-It was okay, I guess?"
"Really? I did terribly. I couldn't answer so many questions! What's with the mortal world? The same question has different answers at different times and in different places. Who the hell knows what to write!"
Lord of Incubus gave God of Nightmares a sidelong look. His expression seemed entirely genuine. God of Sweet Dreams nodded as well.
"I
