Little Deer was self-aware. She knew her plan had very little chance of success. So many factors had to align, and it all depended on things she couldn't control.
But it was the best she could come up with.
This wasn't the Central South Military Region. She had entered the dragon's lair alone, taking an enormous risk. She could be violated at any moment and reduced to a man's plaything.
She had no companions or helpers here. No matter how difficult things got or how terrifying an unexpected situation became, she had to bear it and face it alone.
You could say that every day she spent here—even every minute and second—was like walking a tightrope. And that tightrope was strung over a cliff. The slightest mishap could leave her shattered to pieces.
But making this decision meant there was no turning back. No matter how difficult, painful, or hopeless things got, she had to grit her teeth and keep going.
Now, though, Little Deer faintly sensed that there might finally be a glimmer of hope for a turn in her dire situation.
That glimmer had come from the man in front of her—the man she had once considered her prey.
Unexpected things always seemed to happen out of nowhere.
Little Deer had to keep working on herself before she could finally accept this.
"Can I trust you?" Little Deer seemed to have made up her mind. The wariness and calculation in her eyes were gone, replaced by a sincerity she had never shown before.
Jiang Yue smiled. "I told you already. We need to have some trust between us."
"Then help me rescue that old man. If you succeed, you can do whatever you want to me. This time, I'll keep my word. No tricks."
Jiang Yue grew serious.
