No wonder the Armored Lizardmen called the Mushroom People "Cowardly Mushroom People." Judging by the reactions of the many Mushroom People in the other groups, it was clear that the Mushroom People really were a rather spineless, timid race. At least when faced with the Lizardmen, they didn't even have the courage to look them in the eye when openly provoked and insulted. They all pretended to be deaf and dumb, acting as though they hadn't heard a thing.
Their ostrich-like reaction drew a few snickers from around the guild hall. The other races, especially, looked on with excitement, eager to see the spectacle, and barely bothered to hide their contempt for the Mushroom People.
At that moment, Jiang Yue understood even more clearly that the Underground Race was hardly a harmonious whole. The infighting and bullying among its members were even more direct and blatant than in human society. There was no need for an excuse; they simply confronted you and let loose.
Fortunately, Jiang Yue remembered that he was currently posing as a Mushroom Person. He also stopped San Gou in time, preventing him from getting too caught up in the role and losing his temper.
There was no doubt that, by the Underground Race's usual logic, three Mushroom People facing a group of Armored Lizardmen would never dare to fight back. They simply didn't have the means to stand up to them.
So Jiang Yue knew he had to handle the situation according to the Underground Race's survival philosophy and logic, rather than acting tough and picking a fight.
The Mushroom People were not a race that went looking for a fight.
In the Lizardmen's eyes, Jiang Yue's silence was clearly a cowardly attempt to stall. The Lizardman sneered arrogantly, "What? Can't you understand what I'm saying?"
