Return to the Underground World?
The first thought that crossed the minds of several members of the Underground Race was disbelief. From the moment they became captives, they had known they would most likely die in the Surface World. Go back? They wouldn't even dare dream of it. They were afraid that hoping for too much would only make the disappointment and pain worse.
But then they saw the seriousness in Tong Feifei's eyes. It seemed the Surface Human who had formed master-servant contracts with them wasn't joking.
The Underground Race members weren't stupid. They quickly pieced together the information.
The bad news was that some of them would die. The good news was that some of them could return alive to the Underground World.
But who would die? Who would be allowed to leave the Surface World alive and return to the Underground World? For a moment, every member of the Underground Race felt both apprehensive and hopeful.
Some would die and some would live. It was a matter of probability. They had thought they were certain to die, but now there was at least a chance of survival. Even if only one of the six could make it back, that was still a one-in-six chance. It wasn't much, but at least there was hope, wasn't there?
The "bright one" from earlier swallowed and tried to suppress the fear and excitement rising inside him. "Please show us mercy, Master. Please show us mercy. Please tell us what we should do."
Tong Feifei smiled. "There's no question of showing you mercy or not. You're prisoners. Normally, there's no way I'd let you return alive. Understand?"
