The basement was pitch-black. To them, it was practically another world.

In their experience, most supernatural forces emerged from the dark.

So whenever they entered a place this dark, every Awakened one instinctively grew wary, always fearing that some strange force might suddenly leap out from the shadows and attack them.

In the end, though the old man's offer was tempting, they had kept their guard up to some extent.

"Old geezer, where's the car? This underground parking lot's full of private cars. Where's this big vehicle you're talking about?" one of the lackeys snarled.

The enormous complex's underground parking lot was divided into many sections. There was no way to see everything at once.
