The fact that he could not leave this scenario by letting it reject him made Chen Lin realize how serious the situation was.
There were two possibilities.
One was that this scenario allowed entry but no exit, making it a prison of sorts. Based on his previous experience, however, that was unlikely.
The other was that he had to fulfill some condition before he could leave. This was the most likely explanation.
The sense of danger lingered. Chen Lin considered summoning Grass, but after some thought, decided to wait a little longer.
He could summon Grass at any time, but once she came in, she would be trapped here just like him.
As he was thinking, the door creaked open.
"Oh dear, miss, why are you still standing there in a daze? The wedding procession will be here soon! Hurry up and get ready!"
A middle-aged woman entered the room and immediately began fussing when she saw Chen Lin.
Chen Lin's eyes flickered.
Judging by her behavior, this had to be a scripted sequence within the scenario. Otherwise, she would hardly address a grown man standing before her as "miss."
He considered it for a moment and did not dare speak carelessly.
She gave him no chance to speak anyway. Beckoning toward the doorway, she said, "No, we're running out of time! Hurry in and help the young lady wash and dress. Get her wedding gown on, quickly!"
As soon as she finished, four pretty young maids entered, each carrying something. They set their things down, washed Chen Lin's hair, changed his clothes, then pressed him into a chair before a bronze mirror and began drawing his eyebrows, arranging his hair, and doing his makeup.
Chen Lin cooperated throughout.
Even if he had wanted to resist, he could not have.
