There was no time to explain. Because the virus was active, the anesthetic lasted only a few seconds before wearing off. At
the same time, the dark
red scales on my right wrist kept spreading.
I gritted my teeth and pushed myself up. The wound on my left shoulder was still healing, but it no longer hindered my movements.
I hurriedly reached out. No longer caring whether I might lose too much blood, I yanked out the needle. Yet the blood in my body
kept boiling, and even my temperature
seemed to rise. Sweat instantly soaked through my clothes.
I reached out and gripped the patch of scales on my right wrist.
It was my power, but... I didn't need power I couldn't control!
"Aaaagh!"
"Rrrip! Splat!"
The scales, which had grown into my flesh, were torn out by force, taking a piece of new tissue with them.
I nearly ripped out a blood vessel, too.
Agony tore through my mind. My body seemed to sense what had happened and rapidly healed the wound, but the scales
did not return.
"Bang!"
While the doctors and nurses stared at me in horror, the door was suddenly kicked open. Wild wolf charged in with a grim face.
The moment he entered, he glanced at the
scales on the floor, then at me. Without a word, he walked over, picked them up, and quickly stuffed them into
his pocket.
"You... saw nothing."
Wild wolf spoke flatly, but the threat in his hoarse voice was unmistakable.
"Uh..."
"But..."
"I..."
The doctor and nurses all looked utterly stunned. Wild wolf swept his gaze
over them, and his hoarse
voice sounded again, this time with greater force.
"You saw nothing. You were treating her injuries. She cried out only because the anesthetic had expired."
