Feeling the anger hidden in his voice, I didn't waste time arguing. I pointed behind me.
"Send someone to check. Preferably someone who can swim."
Maybe the pain had sharpened my senses, or maybe my body had grown more sensitive after activating the virus several times. Even though
the others hadn't heard anything, I still had. It was the sound of water.
"You mean... there's water over there?"
"Yeah. From the sound of it, I think it's a river."
The rushing water wasn't loud, but I could make out its flow with my keen senses. It seemed there was an underground river not far behind us. If this place connected to one, that would explain why a semi-aquatic mutant had appeared here.
"First team, go check it out. Third team, keep watch."
Wild Wolf studied me for a long moment, as if making sure I wasn't lying, before issuing the order. Wu San soon led Eight Axes and Six Thieves farther ahead, while the third team returned to the entrance where we'd been earlier. That left just Fatty Two, Wild Wolf, me, and Qiao Seven.
Wild Wolf stared at me without saying a word. He looked... like a sulking child. Seeing that, I couldn't help but shake my head with a wry smile.
"All right, the wound isn't deep. And it's a good thing you didn't pull away. If you had, you might have lost the whole arm."
Qiao Seven said this, then put away the remaining bandages and disinfectant.
"Thanks..."
"No problem. Be more careful next time."
Qiao Seven glanced at Wild Wolf, but said nothing more. I understood what he meant. I hesitated for a moment. What was done was done. What did a grown man have to be afraid of?
With that thought, I walked toward Wild
