Instead of looking over there, she followed the wall, stepping on the weeds and keeping her footsteps as quiet as possible as she crept along the edge toward the office building on the left side of the power plant.
From a distance, the office building looked completely lifeless. There seemed to be signs of people, but in reality, there was no one in sight, either at the entrance or by the windows.
Aside from the roar of the power plant's internal-combustion steam generators, there wasn't another sound.
"Strange... Where did everyone go?"
Fang Yuxuan stared at the office building in confusion. She was hiding behind a pile of concrete pipes, and it was obvious that something was wrong up ahead.
Through a gap between the pipes, she could see several chairs by the entrance. They didn't look as though they'd been moved; they were simply sitting there. A few scattered cigarette butts lay on the ground.
Clearly, those were signs of people being active there regularly. But why hadn't she seen a single person appear yet today?
After hesitating for a while, she glanced down at her watch. It was almost eleven. The sun was due to set at six thirty, and getting from here to Mu Qing's place would take at least two hours.
