I slammed it against the floor-to-ceiling window!
With a "smash!", a huge floor-to-ceiling window was sacrificed in my hand. Accompanied by a "crackle," glass shards scattered across the floor. At the same time, a gust of wind blew open the curtain blocking my view, and the room's furnishings came into view.
No one was there, only some everyday items. However, these were relatively high-end goods. Even with a fleeting glance, they left a deep impression on me.
What interested me most was what was hanging on the wall...
"A holographic projection system!"
It's said that this projection system can make watching movies feel immersive. Some cinemas in big cities are also using this equipment for promotional activities to attract audiences.
Of course... this is all stuff I saw online. This set of equipment costs over a million. How could an ordinary family afford it? Not to mention other accessories for the holographic projection system, like headsets and gloves.
But... things that were once so famous are now just a pile of scrap metal. Without electricity, these things are nothing more than decorative items.
After reaching out and pulling the curtain aside, sunlight streamed into the room, allowing me to see everything clearly.
This should be a gym. The room is filled with exercise equipment. It really lives up to the saying...
"The wealthier people are, the more they cherish life."
Chapter Thirty-Six: The Strange Man
I made a bored quip, then stepped into the room, pulling open all the curtains behind me. There were at least a dozen types of equipment in the room, each one very expensive. In fact... in the center of the room, there was even a punching bag.
I walked over to the punching bag and touched it. It was very soft but felt very heavy. Suddenly, feeling a surge of excitement, I clenched my fist and hit the punching bag hard!
"Bang!!!"
With an explosive sound, I couldn't believe it. My punch, using nine-tenths of my strength, almost sent the punching bag flying.
I took a couple of steps to the side, dodging the swinging punching bag, and subconsciously looked at my fist. Even I thought, how could these slender fingers generate such power?
But... it had truly happened. The still-swaying punching bag proved that what just happened was not an illusion.
"What... what happened to me?"
Feeling bewildered, I walked to the door and gently turned the doorknob. There was no resistance. I opened the door.
However... just as I was zoning out, a pair of eyes startled me so much that my whole body jolted!!
"Who!!"
Instinctively, I raised my saber in front of me. Looking at a pair of eyes standing in the shadowy corner not far away, I was currently in the sunlight and couldn't see what was there. But I could clearly feel that those eyes were reflecting a faint light as they watched me!!
'Is it a zombie?! A person?? Or a monster?!'
In an instant, I thought of many things. However... after about seven or eight seconds of stillness, the thing still showed no movement.
Gradually... as time passed, I calmed down. Looking at that corner, my eyes began to adjust to the darkness. And when I finally saw what it was, I truly... didn't know whether to laugh or cry...
It was a mannequin, sitting on a cabinet against the wall. Its eyes, almost identical to a human's, happened to be looking directly at me, and its height...
It was precisely at the 1.67-meter mark, which genuinely scared me into thinking it was a person.
I let out a sudden sigh of relief. Just as I was about to take a step, I heard a man's voice come from my left.
"Hello."
If the voice hadn't been so distant, the instant he spoke, I would have plunged my saber right at him!
For a moment, I even felt like my heart had stopped! He almost scared me to death!!
But… there was actually a living person here?!
I poked my head out to the left and looked down the spiral staircase. A person was gradually walking down from above.
It was a man with messy, short hair. Although his face was a bit pale, it was clear he was alive.
He was reasonably good-looking, dressed in casual, lightweight clothing, and wearing slippers on his feet.
"Are you a survivor?"
The man walked down the stairs and looked in my direction.
I nodded, glanced around, and didn't say anything… The owner of this villa was actually home, and I had broken in. It was like a thief trying to steal something, only to suddenly discover that someone was home.
How awkward could that be?
"Are you a soldier?"
The man slowly walked over, and I got a clear look at his face. He seemed quite handsome, with thin lips and a high nose bridge.
Although he looked a bit malnourished, his spirit was excellent. He looked at me, his eyes scanning me up and down as if he had found a lifesaver.
I shook my head in response: "No."
The man's head immediately drooped, and the light in his eyes instantly faded. However, when he looked up at me again, for some reason, I suddenly felt
his gaze was disgusting… Was it just my imagination?
"A girl like you, managing to survive out there in the world…" the man said in surprise. Then he waved his hand, gesturing for me to follow him upstairs. At the same time, he said, "Close the door behind you, don't let those things in."
I casually closed the door to the training room. Darkness once again enveloped the room, but thanks to the light filtering through the gap in the curtains, I could still
clearly make out the man's figure.
He was a pretty boy, but his height wasn't much. I estimated he'd be lucky to reach 1.7 meters.
This… made me a little suspicious, but after thinking about it, I suddenly felt I might be overthinking things and pushed the thought aside, following the man upstairs.
However, as I walked up the stairs, I suddenly noticed that the man's pants seemed a bit too long, and his shirt also felt slightly large.
Does this man like wearing baggy clothes? Even the cuffs of his pants are dragging on the floor…
Lost in thought, I followed him upstairs. The moment I reached the second floor, a strange smell made me frown.
"Sorry, it's a humble abode, please excuse the state of it,"
the man said, looking at me as if contemplating something. After a moment's hesitation, he walked over to the balcony and pulled open the curtains.
Instantly, the sunlight blinded me, and I closed my eyes. After adjusting, I opened them again and saw the man walk over to the sofa and sit down.
"Sit down."
"Uh… okay."
I felt a bit lost. This man's reaction was too strange.
But… what exactly was wrong?
The man looked at me, thought for a moment, and suddenly held up a finger: "Wait a moment, I'll go get something." Before I could react, the man hurried
towards a room nearby. In a short while, he returned carrying a wooden box.
"Clack."
A rectangular wooden box was placed in front of me.
"What is this...?"
I instinctively looked up and asked. The man smiled, "It's nothing, just a bottle of red wine to celebrate. I haven't seen another living person in a month."
As he spoke, the man walked over to a cabinet nearby, opened a drawer, and rummaged through it, saying, "That's strange... I remember the bottle opener being here..."
Looking at the man's back, I suddenly noticed something on the cabinet next to him. I reached out and pointed, "Isn't that it?"
The man heard my voice, turned his head to look at me, and then followed the direction I was pointing. There, on the cabinet against the wall, a metal bottle opener sat plainly.
"So it was here all along..." the man said, reaching out to take the bottle opener. However... his height seemed to be an issue. The bottle opener was placed on a cabinet about 1.89 meters high. The man reached and stretched for a long time, but to no avail... Finally, he jumped.
