As Adam spoke, a thin veil of light covered the Black Pearl's surface. Then, a gust of wind propelled the Black Pearl forward—

Under the thin curtain of light, the Black Pearl was like a nimble seabird, breaking through the barrier formed by the gale.

The weather turning clear in an instant lifted everyone's spirits somewhat.

"Pfft—"

Gabriel wiped away the blood he had coughed up from the impact of passing through the wind barrier. Seeing the merchant convoy's ships still ahead, he broke into an excited grin.

His sea chart... was secured!

"What?! They actually escaped!"

Seeing the Black Pearl break through the wind barrier, the people aboard the merchant ships were startled. But soon, a lookout shouted:

"The enemy was badly injured while breaking through the wind wall! The wind wall is still there—we have to trust Lord Qihuoer's strength!"

Qihuoer... was probably the elderly mage's name.

Only after their opponent had already died did Adam and the others learn his name. The other two did not even have names yet. It was somewhat sad when one thought about it.

But that was what mages in this world were like. Life was always full of battle. It was just that battles on land were often framed with some decorative veneer, while those at sea were far more naked.
