"Going bald from being a nun?" Li Fei looked at Yan Jiayu as if she were insane. A kind heart?
But the Old Man and He Yang immediately agreed, the female student followed Professor Han's lead, and after Professor Han nodded, the remaining dissenters were outnumbered. An arm could not twist a thigh.
Professor Han and Li Fei stood on either side of the door while Xu Huo opened it.
The one pushing the wheelchair was a tall man. He stood where he was and nudged the wheelchair forward. "Her legs are inconvenient. She won't make it through the night in Third-Class Seat. Can you take her in?"
The young woman in the wheelchair was pale and thin, with a timid expression. She had clearly not recovered from the shock of the past day and night, and the only thing in her eyes as she looked at Xu Huo and the others was fear.
"Are you siblings?" Xu Huo bent down and lifted the hem of her nightgown. Sure enough, both her legs were somewhat deformed.
"No." The man did not stop him.
"No!" Li Fei was the first to object. Even if the woman in the wheelchair looked frail enough to be blown over, he could not take that risk. "What if she's a Cannibal Player?"
The young woman reacted. "I'm not a Cannibal Player..."
Perhaps she had remembered something she had seen. Before she could finish, she began dry-heaving.
Xu Huo stepped aside. "Come in."
The man did not enter the carriage. He merely pushed the wheelchair inside.
The young woman looked back at him, but the man said nothing. He did not even glance at her before turning and returning to Third-Class Seat.
"You let someone in without asking everyone else. Is this your carriage?" Li Fei was furious. "One more person means one more danger..."
Before he could finish, Xu Huo pulled the wheelchair aside, grabbed Li Fei by the collar, and shoved him out the door. With a bang, he shut it. "Now the number's just right."
Li Fei's face changed drastically. He desperately yanked at the door and cursed without pause, but Xu Huo simply held the handle and stared at him expressionlessly.
Professor Han thought this was inappropriate and was about to say something when Yan Jiayu ran over and gripped the door as well. She said sternly, "We're being reasonable. Agree, and we'll let you in!"
Xu Huo tugged at the door and discovered that she was astonishingly strong. He let go and stepped back.
Li Fei's face was filled with resentment, but the gazes from Third-Class Seat made him feel as though needles were pricking his back. Left with no choice, he said, "Fine! I agree! I agree to let that woman in!"
The door behind him rattled. Li Fei's resentment vanished, and he cried out pale-faced, "I admit I was wrong, ma'am! I was wrong, open the door already...!"
Just as the Players from Third-Class Seat lunged out, Yan Jiayu loosened her grip and swiftly dragged Li Fei through the gap. With another bang, she shut the door, cutting off the Cannibal Player outside!
The meat at his mouth had flown away. The Player unwillingly punched and kicked the metal door for a while, but the glass in it was specially made. After more than ten blows, he had not even left a mark. In the end, he could only leave resentfully.
Li Fei collapsed inside the carriage, gasping for breath. Fear and rage intertwined within him as he stared fixedly at Xu Huo and Yan Jiayu.
Yan Jiayu widened her eyes. "You're going back on your word?"
Li Fei was about to retort, but he caught sight of Xu Huo beside her, coldly watching him. He immediately swallowed his words and turned his head away. "If she really is a Cannibal Player... well, I won't be the one regretting it."
With Li Fei as an example, the middle-aged woman did not dare say anything either. She silently found a seat and sat down.
After waiting a while and hearing no announcement about a rule violation, Xu Huo pushed the wheelchair to the window and asked, "What's your name?"
"Wang Xiaohui." Wang Xiaohui clenched her hands into fists at her sides, resting them beside her knees as she said nervously, "I'm not a Cannibal Player."
"I know." Xu Huo said, "I'm not responsible for protecting you. There are Cannibal Players in Second-Class Seat too, so watch yourself. By the way, how many Players are left in Third-Class Seat?"
Wang Xiaohui hurriedly replied, "Seven, including me."
Xu Huo nodded.
Yan Jiayu gave her a packet of mushy compressed biscuits. "Are you hungry? I soaked this with water we bought."
With tears in her eyes, Wang Xiaohui accepted it and stuffed it into her mouth. "You're all so kind."
The next stretch of time passed quickly. After arranging the night watch shifts and taking turns going to the Restroom, everyone returned to the carriage.
This time, Professor Han and the female student guarded the Front Door, while Yan Jiayu and Li Fei guarded the Back Door.
The Back Door was not much of a concern. The Front Door was the main issue, so Professor Han moved tables and chairs in front of it beforehand and instructed the other Players, "No matter what happens, don't turn on the lights. You can't even use your phones. They must be switched off today."
"I don't see any punishment for breaking the rules. There's no need to act like the enemy is at the gates." The heavily made-up woman glanced at Wang Xiaohui.
"What if it affects the reward when the game ends?" Professor Han said sternly. "No punishment now doesn't mean there won't be one later. I'll watch the switch tonight. Liu Jia, stand a little farther away."
The female student, Liu Jia, looked at the switch with him, then nervously stepped back a little.
Xu Huo noticed her movements and frowned as he looked out the window again.
"Other than those guarding the doors, can everyone else sit in the middle seats?" Professor Han looked around at the group. "That way, there'll be some space between us."
Keeping their distance was really just a precaution against Cannibal Players attacking others.
"Aren't there three corpses in the carriage?" He Yang said coldly. "If you're hungry, you can eat them. Isn't that much easier than attacking other people?"
Every Player had entertained that unspoken thought. If they could use a few dead people to live peacefully until they got off the train, that would be the best outcome.
The heavily made-up woman went to sit off to one side. Xu Huo chose a seat diagonally across from her, while the middle-aged woman and the Old Man sat at the table beside them.
Not knowing whom to trust, Wang Xiaohui instinctively wheeled herself over beside Xu Huo.
"Mr. Xu..." Just before the lights went out, Liu Jia suddenly spoke to Xu Huo. "You... be careful." She also glanced at the heavily made-up woman.
Because of Chen Yi, the others merely assumed she was worried about her savior and paid it no mind. However, Xu Huo confirmed something: the female student must have "seen" something last night.
At first, he had believed Chen Yi was also a Cannibal Player. But Chen Yi had attacked him first last night, which instead proved that he was not one. If he had only wanted to fill his stomach, attacking Liu Jia would have been easier.
The seemingly weaker Old Man and melon-seed face woman in the same carriage had both been attacked.
Chen Yi might have tried to kill him simply for the game itself, in order to earn a high reward score.
Liu Jia's scream had not been caused by an attack. Now, she had deliberately warned him to be careful, which was really a hint that the heavily made-up woman was a Cannibal Player.
The heavily made-up woman did not behave like a Cannibal Player. When they first boarded, she had even reminded the other Players to keep things secret. Liu Jia had initially thought well of her, but after the lights came on today, she had kept her distance from her.
The melon-seed face woman had three wounds of varying sizes. Apart from Square-Faced Man and Li Fei, the Old Man at the door, the heavily made-up woman nearby, and Yan Jiayu, who had moved soundlessly through the darkness, were all highly suspicious.
All three were highly suspicious, and Liu Jia's hint might not necessarily be true. Xu Huo set aside the matter of the Cannibal Players for now and looked at the two people standing by the light switch. They were too nervous. Professor Han had also emphasized turning off the lights and phones yesterday, but he had not acted as though the enemy was at the gates. This change had only come after they exchanged information today.
"You saw what was outside the window too?" he suddenly asked.
