Chapter 1076: The Hospitable Little River City
The stretch ahead was all grassland, so finding the tire tracks wasn't difficult. Following the direction the vehicle had gone, Xu Huo and the others soon reached a stretch of yellow sand. A broad road ran through it, buried beneath blowing sand and tumbling rocks, and at its far end they could just make out the faint outlines of city buildings.
"Great! We finally have somewhere to stay..." The people from Zone 002 grew excited and started forward, but the Mutant Beasts suddenly went berserk. They dumped their riders and fled back the way they had come without looking back!
The players weren't so easily thrown off, but the Mutant Beasts they were riding twisted and writhed wildly, behaving nothing like they had before.
Xu Huo narrowed his eyes and looked toward the commotion coming from the direction opposite the city. He released the white-necked bird-beast.
Uncle Guan and the others also spotted a vehicle approaching in the distance. Their brows furrowed.
The flock of bird-beasts ran off. Only after they had vanished far into the distance did the vehicle slowly draw near. It was an old cargo truck coated in yellow sand, with its front windshield treated so that no one could see inside.
"Stop! Stop!" The people from Zone 002 seemed to have spotted their salvation. Several of them rushed into the road and waved frantically. "We're not players! We're just ordinary people!"
What a way to burn bridges before they'd even crossed the river!
But the players had no time to pay them any attention. There were eight people in the truck, all armed, and as it approached, Xu Huo and the others felt a force pressing down on them—the vehicle was equipped with a device that interfered with props.
