"The clues might be fake, but when I followed the directions they gave, I really did have a better chance of finding hints. I think I was going the right way. I just didn't expect the passage to open up and make half a day's walking pointless." Jiang Zifeng shook his head.
"I got a directional clue too." Xu Huo compared notes with him. Although they had started from different places, the clues pointed in the same direction after they adjusted their routes.
"Looks like my luck isn't all that bad." Jiang Zifeng smiled. "Sure, I took a pointless detour, but running into a companion is even better!"
His enthusiasm seemed to come naturally. He drained his glass, then urged Xu Huo to have some mushroom soup.
As they ate, they exchanged the information they had gathered since entering the maze. Jiang Zifeng's views were similar to Xu Huo's: he believed there had to be more than fifty-four cards in the maze. Even if there were only twelve face cards, there couldn't be just twenty-one black cards and twenty-one white ones.
"If there aren't enough cards, the game can't go on." Jiang Zifeng raised his bowl to Xu Huo. "You've probably already found cards besides the first one, right? I've found two myself."
"A few strong Players could easily sweep up all the cards. Then what? How are we supposed to keep playing? Just wander around the maze?"
Xu Huo nodded slightly. "Even so, there still have to be enough people entering the Dungeon."
Jiang Zifeng agreed. "But we don't know how many people will come in. If we get too far ahead and the people behind us start from the entrance, there might not be enough cards to go around."
