Xu Huo felt that he and this senior Player had crossed paths quite often lately.
The reward for the maze Dungeon was an item belonging to the Magician, and the Dungeon itself had unfolded in the form of playing cards. He wondered whether there was any connection between the two.
He put the item away again, put on Dead Heart, and only then opened the door in front of him.
He emerged through the back door of a restaurant in Card City. A Server who had just loaded a trash bag onto an automatic collection vehicle was heading back inside. Seeing the door open on its own with no one there, he instinctively stepped aside. Once the door had closed again, he went back inside.
The people of Card City were used to doors in public places or at home suddenly opening. As long as Players coming out of Dungeons didn't cause trouble, nobody paid them much attention. Of course, to protect their privacy, many private residences didn't have bedroom doors that could be operated from either side. Instead, like in the other cities of District 001, they used automatic doors.
Xu Huo avoided the people as he strolled along the street. He noticed three automatic monitors pass right by him before a fourth seemed to detect him.
And after he came out of the restaurant, more monitors—both visible and concealed—began converging on him. Other streets, though just as crowded, didn't have nearly as many.
The celebration belonged to everyone in Card City. Unlike when he'd entered the Dungeon, the projection of the ace card now appeared in front of almost every shop, with an "20% off" sign beside it.
Xu Huo first changed his appearance, then came out somewhere suitable and casually struck up a conversation with
