The Castle stood in the deepest part of Gemstone City, on the city's outskirts. But because it was so tall, it formed part of the wall that surrounded the city.

The wall wasn't very high, but behind it lay a belt of dense woods, less than twenty meters wide. Beyond that were several artificial lakes, crisscrossed by carriage roads. With nothing else to block the view, the patrolling guards and sentries were easy to spot.
