A Spectacular Performance
It seemed to confirm that someone was inside the wall. Xiao Si reached out to grab at it, but without damaging the wall, she couldn't push her hand through it, let alone catch anyone.
Perhaps finding it a little strange, she glanced at her hand. Then one of the two turned and headed for the door.
Just then, another force covered the Ancient Castle. A deep red light surged from different parts of the room, as though something were about to pass through the walls.
The two Xiao Sis, who had been preparing to split up, retreated to the middle of the room. Watching the faintly flickering light on the walls, they frowned and took up fighting stances. But with a soft pop, a huge red lantern with a round belly squeezed through the wall, followed by a second and then a third.
Seven or eight lanterns squeezed into the room one after another, then filed out through the doorway.
Realizing the red lanterns weren't dangerous, one Xiao Si went over and opened the door. The sight in the corridor startled her.
The Queen liked quiet, but the corridor, which should have been empty, was now filled with laughter and chatter. Children dressed for a celebration ran ahead, setting off fireworks. Several brightly colored cloth lions followed them. The lions came in pairs, playfully tumbling past the door. After them, little figures that looked like Paper Men but could move flew by, seemingly putting on some kind of show...
Golden fish, large and small, swam through the air. Every so often, they leaped up and disappeared into a wall, only to emerge again three or five meters away, bubbling cheerfully. Sometimes they swam alongside bouncing little rabbits, making soft noises as though they were chatting with each
