"Modified humans?" Xu Huo frowned slightly. Humans usually underwent modifications when they had difficulty moving around. This was common in the game: players who had lost limbs or even their ability to move would make that choice when their limbs couldn't be restored. Since they were human, they'd need Tickets to enter Dungeons. The doll people couldn't stay in a Dungeon forever.
"How many doll people are there?" he asked, quickly getting to the point.
"I saw two." Yan Jiayu gave a thumbs-up. "They looked pretty much alike, so they've probably had plastic surgery. But they're a little different from normal people, too. Their emotions seem muted, like robots."
"No normal person would voluntarily turn themself into this. Someone probably modified them."
"I've run into a modification maniac before, but they liked modifying robots. This is my first time meeting someone who modifies real people."
"Old Xu, this time we're up against a bit of a handful."
Living people were much harder to deal with than robots.
"What, thinking of backing out?" Xu Huo turned to look at her.
Yan Jiayu chuckled. "If I wanted to leave, I wouldn't be lying here in the rain... From what I've seen, the people coming and going here are probably hired muscle. They're not the really dangerous ones. The only thing we need to consider is covering our tracks. There are plenty of powerful players in the game. We can't let anyone trace this back to us."
Xu Huo didn't object. She continued, "There are three dolls outside. They probably have devices that let them sense each other. If we destroy one, the others will know—including the dolls in the mine. We'd better take them all out at once."
"We can use them to draw out the doll people," Xu Huo said. "We'll
