When the painted woman saw the Medal, her eyes lit up. She immediately reached out and took it, instinctively stuffing it into her clothes. But halfway through, she stopped, raised the Medal to sniff it, then turned it over and over with a puzzled look. In the end, she seemed to find nothing wrong with it, but her enthusiasm for the Medal had greatly diminished.
Still, she didn't let go. She put the Medal in her pocket.
Xu Huo took out his other Medal, the "Gentleman of Light."
The painted woman's enthusiasm surged again. She snatched it and pressed it into her collar, but Xu Huo gave a light cough and glanced at Tongtong, who was looking up at them.
The painted woman's head turned too. Then she slowly took out the Medal, tucked it behind her waistband, covered it with her clothes, and gazed at Xu Huo with wide, clear, innocent eyes, wearing a sweet smile.
Xu Huo remained unmoved and held out his hand.
The painted woman's eyes widened even more. She slowly took a step back.
"Mine," Xu Huo emphasized. "I'm letting you look at it."
The painted woman was no longer the penniless painted woman she'd once been. She immediately pointed at the things on the ground, indicating she'd trade all of them for the Medal—and would even give back the other Medal she'd taken earlier.
"Is there any difference between the two Medals?" Xu Huo asked curiously.
The painted woman thought for a moment, then pointed at Xu Huo's Medal and typed, "This one is better."
Xu Huo took both Medals back. On the surface, there was no difference between them, and neither had any special markings. But when placed in a Personal Panel, a Medal displayed some information about how it had been acquired.
