Most of the abilities Xu Huo had acquired so far shared one trait: their effects covered a wide area, but they had little offensive power and were rarely forceful. They suited his Passerby A profession perfectly—weak, inconspicuous, and mostly useless in practice.
Of course, that was also because he had upgraded his abilities too few times. Each upgrade expanded an ability's range or strengthened its restrictions. Take Kuang Sen, whom he had met on the train to District 019. Kuang Sen's Judge ability had evolved to become extremely powerful: it could protect him and restrict others.
Many of Xu Huo's abilities depended on the target's degree of immunity. Aside from "Emotional Color" and "Truth Transcends All," which he used relatively often, there were few occasions to use the rest. After all, a target he needed an ability to help him attack might be immune to abilities, while for targets that weren't, his items were more than enough.
Next came an upgrade to one major ability and one derivative ability.
His major ability, "Accident Trigger Constitution," upgraded to "Choice of Fate." "Accident Trigger Constitution" had been a passive ability, and Xu Huo rarely used it intentionally. Yet, by some twist of fate, he would often find himself at the scene of an accident and get inexplicably caught up in danger.
The upgraded "Choice of Fate" was an active ability. He could use it to help him make judgments in certain situations. For example, when choosing a direction, he could activate the ability to get a basic percentage estimate of the likelihood that a sudden incident would occur if he went a certain way. It was a way to avoid risks in advance.
[Note: Choice of Fate is not solely in the hands of Passerby A. When others make choices about their
