The alien had obviously not been attracted by the blood on the Protective Suits. Plenty of Players on the train were injured, while the three who had been killed had originally been unharmed.

If the water-like thing that had flashed into view and disappeared was an alien, it didn't seem to have a sense of smell or sight. Yet it could find the Protective Suits with uncanny accuracy. No water trails had appeared nearby, either, which suggested that it reacted in some special way to traces left by its own kind.

Xu Huo turned to the fortune-teller Player, who had followed him again. "Ask the people in Carriage Two if anyone touched the water on the alien, changed Protective Suits, or washed with Cleaning Agent. Any of those count."

The fortune-teller Player immediately headed for Carriage Two.

The doors between the carriages were already open, so there was no need for her to pass on the message. Still, everyone was more curious about why Xu Huo had asked.

"Could the alien be choosing its targets based on the water on them?" the man in the red headscarf asked with a frown. "We don't know if the two who died in Carriage Two touched the cases, but I don't think anyone in Carriage Seven did."

Everyone had already learned the details earlier. There had been only five cases brought aboard: two were in Carriage Two, and Xu Huo had taken the other three.

"Could the person who died in Carriage Seven have been one of the two who left Carriage Two?" the crew-cut man asked.

That possibility was even more upsetting. When they had counted the people in Carriage Seven earlier, its Players had confirmed that nobody had entered their carriage after lights-out. And the other dead Player hadn't been wearing
