One door after another opened rapidly, and none of them closed again right away. Since the doors on either side of each room faced each other, the rooms behind them formed a straight line through the doorways. Each room was less than twenty meters long, so fifty rooms stretched for a kilometer. Beyond that distance, even players with excellent eyesight couldn't make out objects clearly, let alone in a series of completely identical rooms. Looking ahead from any doorway, it seemed like an endless, bottomless well.
Xu Huo opened five hundred rooms in one go before stopping. When he looked back, the light from all four sides of each room made the far end of his vision look like a tiny white spot, like the end of a narrow tunnel... The rooms ran perfectly straight, with no deviation in angle and no repeating loops.
Seeing this, he couldn't help turning to look at the other door. Could the rooms beyond it be similar, yet never repeat?
Or did a player have to spend enough time and effort to reach the end?
"Click!" He opened the next door and saw two players lying on the floor.
When they noticed someone had arrived, they cracked their eyes open, glanced at him, then closed them again.
"Have you gone any farther?" Xu Huo asked.
The player on the left lay peacefully with his hands folded over his stomach. He didn't open his eyes when he answered, his voice calm. "I turned back after ten thousand rooms. I can tell you that in the first nine thousand, there was nothing but corpses."
"Ten thousand?" Xu Huo seemed taken aback by the number.
"Must've been ten thousand. No fewer, at least." The other player said, "I dropped one of the beads I carry every thousand
