Xu Huo pointed at the monitoring devices that occasionally flew over the town. "Those things have been following the train the whole time."
Bubble Bean had noticed them earlier too, but had assumed they were just part of routine security. After all, District 001 was technologically advanced, so it was normal for monitoring devices to follow trains and keep an eye on their progress.
"When I fought that Conductor, one of those devices started following me," Xu Huo said. "It was still behind me several stations later."
Bubble Bean didn't look outside. "We might as well shoot it down."
"Do you think they're short on monitoring devices here?" Xu Huo asked. "Besides, with today's technology, they only need a satellite to monitor Players."
"Then these probably aren't government property," Bubble Bean said. "They belong to the Players who attacked us."
Xu Huo nodded. "When we got off earlier, didn't we run into a few groups of Players boarding the train? Two groups of them were attacked too. On the other hand, once they got off, they were safe."
"You mean the Players being attacked were all picked out from the trains, and the attacks can only happen on board?" Bubble Bean asked, confused. "What are they trying to do? Is the stuff we're carrying really that valuable?"
"Think more broadly," Xu Huo said. "Maybe it's not the items we're carrying that are valuable. Maybe Outer District Players are."
"What do you mean?" Bubble Bean frowned.
"They don't kill us, and they only attack in specific places. Doesn't it seem like they're keeping us penned in one arena? Getting off the train means a break, and getting back on means the game starts again." Xu Huo speculated.
