Opening a Blind Box
In almost an instant, an irresistible force yanked Xu Huo upward. Yan Jiayu, who had rushed over and grabbed him, and Qi Cong, who had kept himself tied to Yan Jiayu, were swept up with him.
Yan Jiayu showed no intention of letting go once she was pulled off the ground. Xu Huo had no time to stop her. In fact, they barely had any time to react. In less than a second, they were all dragged into another space.
The ceiling of the castle corridor had seemed impossibly high, but in reality, they had been pulled to another part of the castle. They landed on something soft. Then came the choking sensation of a sudden tightening around Xu Huo's neck, followed by an agonizing force twisting his head to one side. He caught sight of a tiny number "3" marked beneath a wall lamp a few meters away—and beneath the lamp stood a headless doll.
It felt as though a pair of huge hands had wrapped around his head. After failing to cut off his throat, they were trying to snap his neck. His vision blurred. Xu Huo turned with the force of the attack and released his flying shuttle and Manifestation, sweeping them indiscriminately through the surrounding space.
The pressure on his head eased the next second. He immediately released "Seaweed Soaked in Water," expanding his defensive range while also trying to detect whatever was nearby... At least, he hadn't sensed any physical body either time the thing had appeared.
His gaze flicked over the faintly glowing wall lamp. He lunged forward and chopped it down. The only light went out, plunging the corridor back into darkness.
There had been no light on the second floor either, but that didn't mean it was safe.
