The conditions for going to the second floor were simple as well: for three consecutive months, the premium rate of the instruments submitted had to exceed 90%. Only by reaching the factory director's standard of a "master craftsman" could one become a true "technician."

"Three months." Qian Han said quietly, "That's not happening either."

The window slammed shut, and Xu Huo and Qian Han headed toward the workrooms.

The accounting window was beside the main entrance. A little farther inside, there was a corridor on either side, each leading to a workroom. The rooms were enormous, each containing ten rows of workstations. Tall partitions separated every station from the left, right, and front. Once a worker sat down, they could hardly communicate with the workers around them—couldn't even see anyone else.

Because of the special nature of the raw materials, the rooms themselves had been constructed from unusual materials with some insulating properties, reducing the mental interference caused by the mutated fruits.

Still, entering the workroom made one feel uncomfortable. There were simply too many eye fruits coated in special paint inside, and besides those, there were plenty of fruit pits.

When Xu Huo and Qian Han entered, someone not far away leaned his head back around a partition and waved at them. It was the Player who lived opposite Feng Jiawen.

Xu Huo nodded and chose the empty stations beside him with Qian Han.

Ready-made semi-finished instruments sat on the tables, alongside a box of glue made from fruit flesh and a box of fruit pits.

The fruit pits were the essence of the mutated fruits. Xu Huo opened the box and took a look. The pits, each less than a tenth the size of a mung bean, densely filled the small box. It was probably a month's supply.
