Before the Trial
Leyton Miller had a special status, and confirming his guilt required a public trial. The Black Shoulder Badges had dared to come right to his door, so they certainly wouldn't let the Holy Sword Society, their "witness," be killed so easily.
And Lady Lily was certain Asis Werner would stumble over this, whatever backup plan she had. But clearly, she wasn't counting on Xu Huo's assassination attempt.
So Xu Huo didn't intercept them along the way.
First, his chances of success were extremely low. Forget confronting that C-class player directly—even breaking through the Black Shoulder Badges' protective perimeter would be nearly impossible.
Second, this man was more valuable to him alive.
He had watched two public trials and had a rough idea of the courtroom's layout. After estimating where the accused would stand, he took out a bag of powder and gently blew it into the courtroom.
