They encountered no Alien attacks along the way, though they did pass several groups heading from the base city to the training grounds. Shangguan Xi used items and Potions to alter the vehicle's appearance a little, so it didn't draw anyone's attention.

Or perhaps those people were more concerned about what was happening at the training grounds and didn't pay much mind to Players passing by.

"Did Gao Xiaoyan's side notify the base city about us?" Shangguan Xi asked, rather surprised. They still had the body of a contaminated Alien with them. Was Gao Xiaoyan not worried they might seize an opportunity to retaliate?

"Could this be some kind of trap?" Zhu Feiyun considered the possibility more carefully.

"A base city that large wouldn't go to so much trouble over a few outsiders," Kuang Wenjun said rationally.

She had a point. Xu Huo and the others had encountered no pursuit along the way, and they saw no Players from the base city ahead when they neared it. Instead, scattered Players hoping to sneak through a loophole had ambushed them in various places, but Xu Huo's group had plenty of people. More often than not, there were more probing than attacking.

W37 Base City was actually a somewhat old city situated on a plain. Its tall defensive walls concealed most of it, and from a distance, only the tips of a few buildings taller than the rest could be seen poking up in the city center.

Perhaps to improve visibility, the trees around the city had all been cleared except along a few wide, straight roads. The result was a stretch of fan-shaped farmland that looked as
