The Fungi Are Waving at You
"Are we going back again?" The female Player rubbed her arms and walked to the edge of the suspended rock to look down, then quickly pulled back. "It still looks really deep."
"But there doesn't seem to be any other way up," Zhuo Wangsun said, looking around.
The place they were in was actually a giant, oval-shaped cavity. There was a narrow passage at either end, but both were mostly blocked by mycelium. They had probed them with an object earlier; the mycelium was at least several meters thick and sticky, so no one could get through.
"Am I seeing things?" Siming suddenly pointed somewhere above them. "It looks like someone up there is waving at us."
"There's someone up there!" The female Player cupped her hands around her mouth and called out, "Who are you? Have you found a way out?"
The figure didn't respond. It kept waving at them at the same unhurried pace, then turned and disappeared behind the rock wall.
"That probably wasn't a person, right?" Zhuo Wangsun instinctively glanced at Xu Huo. This figure was different from the one they'd seen in the foggy woods earlier. It was much more agile—and it could wave!
They couldn't see clearly because it was too far away and the light was dim. Xu Huo, however, could see it perfectly. It definitely wasn't a person, but a human-shaped model made of mycelium. The details weren't very realistic, but the fact that it could wave and walk was truly astonishing. To have mutated to this degree was genuinely impressive.
"It doesn't look friendly. Should we follow it?" the female Player asked, seeking their opinion. Neither she nor Siming took Zhuo Wangsun's words seriously.
"Four against one. We have a chance." Xu Huo said this,
