Xiao Xiao set the child down and turned him around.

"Apologize to Piggy."
The child turned back and saw Big Brother crouching down and smiling at him.
He couldn't help smiling back.
The unease in his heart eased a little.
The child took a deep breath and turned around.
Piggy's enormous body loomed right in front of him. The child nervously swallowed.

The loud sound startled the child.
One of his feet instinctively stepped back. His body leaned backward, and he was about to fall onto the ground.
But the child blinked.
He turned his head and, sure enough, Big Brother was holding his back with one hand.
He steadied himself.
"Careful."
Big Brother's expression and tone were both gentle, but the child felt a little embarrassed, thinking he'd made a fool of himself.
He pressed his lips together, then turned around and looked up in one bold, fluid motion, managing to muster a bit of bravado.
But in the very next moment, his courage deflated like a punctured balloon.
Watching the little child's shoulders droop as his small body trembled, Xiao Xiao couldn't help laughing, though he knew it wasn't very nice of him.
How could this child be so funny?
He placed a hand on the child's shoulder, silently offering his support.
The child stiffened, seeming to want to turn around.
But in the end, he didn't.

The warmth and pressure on his shoulder had clearly given him a good deal of reassurance.
