What a strange feeling.
It wasn't the first time he'd used spiritual energy to shield himself from the rain.
But it was the first time he'd experienced it so intently.
He could clearly see raindrops falling in continuous streams, yet there wasn't the slightest sticky sensation of being wet on his face or body.
The refreshing feeling throughout his body clashed with what he saw.
It left Xiao Xiao feeling somewhat unreal.
"Gudiaiao, come back."
The enormous black shadow lowered its head toward Xiao Xiao.
Then it vanished into thin air.
The few monsters on Xiao Xiao's body had all opened their eyes for once.
Their usual languor had vanished.
Each of them wore a look of astonishment.
Though they had seen it before, they still felt surprised and curious every time.
How had this monster disappeared?
How had they failed to sense even the slightest fluctuation?
It had truly vanished without a sound or trace.
Xiao Xiao's lips lifted slightly.
He looked up at the sky.
The rain had dwindled to almost nothing.
It would probably stop before long.
Xiao Xiao dispelled the spiritual energy around him.
He tilted his head slightly. "Plip." A raindrop slid down his cheek and splashed into a tiny puddle on the ground.
He smiled and headed toward the mouth of the alley.
The next day, dark clouds blanketed the sky.
Yet it wasn't until nearly noon that the rain began.
"Plip."
A single raindrop fell.
Soon, "Patter, patter," torrential rain came pouring down.
Xiao Xiao returned to his usual spot.
On a branch of the tree outside Zhou Mingbao's hospital room.
"Bang!"
"Crash!"
The window shattered, glass scattering across the floor.
Zhou Mingbao jerked backward in fright, nearly falling off the bed.
His face had gone deathly pale.
