Background
Robin spent three years within Baroque Works, assisting Crocodile while secretly pursuing Poneglyphs and the truth of the Void Century. A lifetime of shifting among dangerous factions, betrayals, and deception left her distrustful and exhausted; Alabasta had become her last hope. 61
In the Alabasta crypt, she told Crocodile that the Poneglyph contained no information on the Ancient Weapon. Already prepared to betray him, she kept a vial of water and a dagger concealed in case an opening arose. When Crocodile attacked her first, she countered immediately, using the water to exploit his weakness. 48
After Crocodile’s arrest, Robin was left despondent and considered abandoning her search altogether. Reiner offered her a place with the Straw Hats, explaining the Road Poneglyphs and Laugh Tale; the possibility of continuing Ohara’s pursuit of history renewed her resolve. 61 62
Robin ultimately boarded the Going Merry and asked Luffy to let her remain on the crew. Luffy accepted without hesitation, despite Zoro’s suspicion of her former Baroque Works allegiance. 64
Appearance
Robin is a tanned woman with shoulder-length black hair and a calm, faint smile. 64
- During the Alabasta conflict, she wore a white cowboy hat and coat over a camisole and short skirt. 48
- Upon joining the Straw Hats, she appeared in a long-sleeved white shirt. 64
- In later combat, she can assume a monstrous, devil-like appearance with horns and massive black bat wings. 281
Personality
Robin is composed, observant, and habitually cautious. Her past taught her to assess potential threats immediately—even after Reiner’s group saved her, she considered how to incapacitate them before deciding whether they were hostile. 61
Her pursuit of history is central to her decisions. Knowledge of the Road Poneglyphs and the possibility of uncovering the Void Century gave her a reason to continue living and seek the New World. 62
Although initially reserved, Robin comes to value the Straw Hats as genuine comrades. CP9’s threats against the crew drive her to leave Water 7 voluntarily, but she later rejects her sacrifice and chooses to return to help them. 108 119
