  • Yang Ling dodged Wu Man’s powerful punches while the crowd watched, and Zhang Wei recognized him with envy.

  • Little White gouged out Wu Man’s eyes, allowing Yang Ling to finish him with repeated strikes from the Red Gold Crane Beak Hoe.
  • Yang Ling absorbed a surge of energy, leveled up, and spent his free attribute point to raise his Mental Power to 30.
  • Captain Lin arrived, inspected Wu Man’s body, and asked Yang Ling whether he had gouged out the man’s eyes.

Ch. 52Promotion, Ninth-Rank Iron Clothes Constable

Yang Ling explained how he killed Wu Man and demonstrated his Thief-Catching Saber Technique to Minister Shi Xin. Impressed by Yang Ling's skill and merit, Shi Xin said he qualified for promotion to Ninth-Rank Iron Clothes Constable and ordered a search for Wu Man's accomplices.

  • Shi Xin confronted Lin Yan over Wu Que's treason, but Lin Yan explained that Wu Que was a Rong Tribe spy and showed him Wu Man's corpse.
  • Shi Xin learned that Yang Ling had killed Wu Man, a registered Ninth-rank Martial Artist, and questioned Yang Ling about the fight and his connection to Wu Que.
  • Yang Ling said he blinded Wu Man with a Crane-Mouth Hoe after Wu Man tried to kill him, and explained that Wu Que had left him on the way to Dou Mine.
  • At Shi Xin's request, Yang Ling demonstrated the Thief-Catching Saber Technique, impressing Shi Xin with his progress after only a little over ten days in the department.
  • Shi Xin said Yang Ling's strength and merit qualified him for promotion to Ninth-Rank Iron Clothes Constable, then ordered Lin Yan and the other constables to search Qingshan City for Wu Man's accomplices.

Ch. 53The Ninth-Rank Divide

Yang Ling learned how Zhao State ranked and registered Martial Artists while discussing Wu Man’s death with Shi Xin. After Old Zhao brought in two suspected spies, Yang Ling used Insight and discovered that both men had committed serious crimes.

  • Yang Ling wore his new Ninth-Rank Iron Clothes uniform and Official Saber as Shi Xin explained that Wu Man’s death gave the Iron Clothes Department an answer to its superiors.
  • Shi Xin told Yang Ling that Martial Artists needed to cultivate a method and pass an assessment to qualify for a rank, and that Zhao State recorded roughly 350,000 registered Martial Artists.
  • Old Zhao and his companions brought Lin Mu and Zhang San to the hall after catching them near the Prefectural Office and suspecting them of links to Wu Man.
  • Yang Ling used Insight and learned that Lin Mu had smuggled Fire Crystal Rock Ore out of the city and Zhang San had killed a city guard.
  • Yang Ling walked toward Lin Mu, causing Lin Yan to stop speaking in confusion.

Ch. 54Tiger-Catching Saber Technique, Mastery Through Practice

Yang Ling’s relentless practice brought him close to mastering the Thief-Catching Saber Technique, while Shi Xin’s investigation uncovered nearly a hundred people tied to Wu Que’s Fire Crystal Rock smuggling. Before leaving Qingshan City, Shi Xin rewarded Yang Ling with five Spirit Nurturing Pills and hinted that he had plans for him.

  • Shi Xin, Lin Mu, and Zhang San exposed nearly a hundred people involved in Wu Que’s smuggling, while Yang Ling trained until his Thief-Catching Saber Technique reached 502/1000 Proficiency.
  • Shi Xin surprised Yang Ling with a saber attack, and Yang Ling fought back before Shi Xin pinned his saber at his neck and praised his improvement.
  • Shi Xin told Yang Ling that Wu Que’s case was nearly settled and that he was returning to the capital with enough credit to likely earn a promotion to Seventh Rank.
  • Shi Xin gave Yang Ling five Spirit Nurturing Pills as an advance reward, and Yang Ling accepted them with gratitude.
  • Yang Ling and Lin Yan watched Shi Xin’s procession leave, and Lin Yan suggested Shi Xin had other plans for Yang Ling and asked him not to forget him when he succeeded.

Ch. 55The Three of Us Are Actually Players Too

Yang Ling led more than a thousand miners safely through Mine Tunnel No. 1 and warned supervisor Tang Gao about the danger of opposing Xu Qing. After collecting his earnings, Yang Ling reflected on his growing savings and considered buying a better saber.

  • Chen Xu and Chen Guoqing decided to approach Yang Ling after mining and ask him to help them become Martial Artists and undergo a Class Transfer.
  • Yang Ling organized the miners into teams of five and led them underground while Little White searched for Red Gold Mine deposits.
  • The miners returned safely with a large haul, and Yang Ling warned Tang Gao that Wu Que had been exposed as a Rong Tribe Spy and their shared patron might be in trouble.
  • Yang Ling received a little over twenty taels for his roughly ten catties of Red Gold Mine and found that his savings had exceeded a thousand taels.
  • Yang Ling considered buying a better saber because his Ninth-Rank Official Saber was common, while Spirit Nurturing Pills remained difficult to obtain.

Ch. 56Monster Spawn Point

Yang Ling negotiated with Gao Chen and two other Level 10 Players, trading Black Tiger Fist for silver and the location of a safe Monster Spawn Point. After hearing that they had reached Level 10 unusually quickly, Yang Ling asked whether they had received a reward for being among the first thirty Players to reach that level.

  • Yang Ling learned that the three miners were Level 10 Players who could not advance without becoming Martial Artists and undergoing Class Transfer.
  • The three tried to buy Yang Ling's Black Tiger Fist, but Yang Ling rejected Gao Chen's offer of money to be paid after returning to the real world.
  • Gao Chen offered to trade the location of a safe Monster Spawn Point for the Martial Skill, and Yang Ling agreed to accept the secret plus one hundred taels of silver.
  • Gao Chen revealed that Mine Tunnel 36 led to a Stone Cave filled with insect pupae that gave substantial Experience Points.
  • Yang Ling asked whether Gao Chen and the other two had been among the first thirty Players to reach Level 10 and had received a reward, making them stiffen.

Ch. 57Silver Random Treasure Chest

Yang Ling reached level 20 first among Divine Domain’s players and won a Silver Random Treasure Chest containing the First-class Martial Skill Lingxu Step. He began learning the skill while continuing to kill insect pupae and reached level 21.

  • Yang Ling gained a level and learned that he could not raise his maxed Mental Power without a related Cultivation Method, so he put his free attribute points into Agility.
  • Yang Ling reached level 20 and became the first of Divine Domain’s one million players to do so, earning a Silver Random Treasure Chest.
  • Yang Ling opened the chest and found the First-class Martial Skill Lingxu Step, which could greatly increase Agility and eventually grant the ability to tread through the air.
  • Yang Ling learned Lingxu Step and cultivated it while stomping insect pupae, gaining proficiency and experience until he reached level 21.

Ch. 58Lingxu Step, Mastery Through Practice

Yang Ling trained Lingxu Step until it reached Mastery Through Practice, sharply increasing his speed and confidence in fighting stronger opponents. Xu Shan and three Mountain River Sect disciples then visited him to ask about his role in killing Wu Man.

  • Yang Ling ordered the entrance to Mine Tunnel 36 permanently sealed because of the Mine Worms inside, then divided his time between patrols, mining, and martial training.
  • After half a month of practice, Yang Ling advanced Lingxu Step to Mastery Through Practice and raised his Agility to 54 while using his techniques.
  • Yang Ling compared his strength with Wu Man’s and Shi Xin’s, concluding that he could now defeat Wu Man easily but might still fall short of an Eighth-rank Martial Artist.
  • Xu Shan arrived with three Mountain River Sect disciples and asked Yang Ling about the Qingshan City case and his part in killing Wu Man.
  • Yang Ling said he had only harassed Wu Man from a distance, and Xu Shan explained that Wu Man was an Eighth-rank Martial Artist from the Rong Tribe’s Giant Spirit Sect.

Ch. 59Rong Tribe Spy

Yang Ling and Xu Shan escorted a shipment of Red Gold Mine toward the Mountain River Sect while discussing Martial Arts and the mysterious power of Intent. At a teahouse, Giant Spirit Sect Martial Artists ambushed them for revenge against Wu Man, and the chapter left Yang Ling facing a group of attackers.

  • Yang Ling asked Xu Shan about Collapse Mountain Fist and learned that it could cultivate Intent, while the Divine Sect’s Divine Path Art supposedly improved talent and comprehension.
  • A Mountain River Sect Disciple spotted suspicious customers at a teahouse, and Xu Shan and Yang Ling rode over to investigate.
  • Giant Spirit Sect Martial Artists attacked Xu Shan and Yang Ling, killing Xu Shan’s horse and injuring him within a few exchanges.
  • Three Mountain River Sect Disciples considered retreating with the Red Gold Mine and sending for help, prioritizing the shipment over rescuing Xu Shan and Yang Ling.
  • Giant Spirit Sect Martial Artists recognized Yang Ling as Wu Man’s killer and charged him, while Yang Ling fought using Lingxu Step and Thief-Catching Saber Technique.

Ch. 60None Other Than You

Yang Ling defeated the Rong Tribe spies who ambushed the Red Gold Mine shipment, then let Lin Yan claim the top credit in exchange for a promise of the Qingshan City Constable position. At the Mountain River Sect, news of Yang Ling’s deed stunned the elders and delighted Xu Qing.

  • Lin Yan arrived, confirmed the Giant Spirit Sect Martial Artists were Rong Tribe spies, and agreed to take the top credit while promising Yang Ling the Qingshan City Constable position.
  • Yang Ling asked Lin Yan to send Qingshan City’s refugees to work at the Red Gold Mine, and Lin Yan agreed.
  • Yang Ling and the others reached the Mountain River Sect, where the Sect Master scolded a middle-aged man over Wu Que’s infiltration and Xu Qing’s management of the mine was questioned.
  • A disciple reported that Rong Tribe Martial Artists had ambushed the mine shipment but were all killed by a Ninth-Rank Iron Clothes Constable.
  • Yang Zhiwen recognized the constable as Yang Ling, and Xu Qing proudly told the elders that Yang Ling was the Supervisor he had recruited.

Ch. 61The Peiyuan Pill

Yang Ling explained how he increased Red Gold Mine output and exposed Fang Qingyang's role in the miners' deaths, then recounted his fight against Giant Spirit Sect attackers. Sect Master Liang Yue rewarded his service by offering him a Peiyuan Pill, despite objections from the other elders.

  • Yang Ling told Liang Yue that resolving the trouble caused by Fang Qingyang had raised the Red Gold Mine's output, and revealed that Fang had lured Red Gold Mantises into the tunnels, killing ten miners.
  • Liang Yue confronted He Qiubai about Fang Qingyang, his distant relative, and warned him to be more careful about whom he brought into the sect.
  • Liang Yue praised Yang Ling for defeating more than ten Giant Spirit Sect bandits and said he would have made a worthy disciple, but could not recruit him because Yang Ling held an Official Position.
  • Liang Yue offered Yang Ling his remaining Peiyuan Pill as a reward, while He Qiubai and the other elders urged him not to give away the precious pill.

Ch. 62Promotion: The Second Layer of the Vajra Mingwang Technique!

Yang Ling took a Peiyuan Pill in seclusion and advanced the Vajra Mingwang Technique to its Second Layer. After gaining permanent attribute and health boosts along with Qi and Blood, he considered how to raise his Mental Power enough to reach the technique’s higher layers.

  • Hong Ying brought Yang Ling to a quiet room and told him to take the Peiyuan Pill.
  • Yang Ling examined the pill and calculated how long it would take to advance the Vajra Mingwang Technique, resolving to find a Mental Power cultivation method.
  • Yang Ling swallowed the pill and circulated the technique while Little White guarded the door during the three-day Stiff Head effect.
  • After three days, the Vajra Mingwang Technique reached its Second Layer, granting Yang Ling 10 Free Attribute Points, 200 Health Points, and Qi and Blood.
  • Yang Ling put all 10 Free Attribute Points into Agility, raising it to 19, and compared his attributes with Yang Zhiwen’s.

Ch. 63Are You a "Divine Domain" Player?

Yang Ling asked Xu Qing about martial ranks and sects, learning that the Mountain River Sect’s cultivation method limited its prospects while higher-ranked sects were anchored by powerful experts. He was left wondering whether his own cultivation method was incomplete as he learned the titles for the highest ranks.

  • Yang Ling told Xu Qing that he had reached a rank, and Xu Qing welcomed his strength as protection against Yang Zhiwen interfering with the Red Gold Mine.
  • Xu Qing accepted Yang Ling’s insistence on calling him Senior Brother and explained that Sect Master Liang was a Seventh-rank Expert.
  • Xu Qing said Second-rate Sects such as Ku Jue Temple were anchored by West-Rank Grandmasters, while First-rate Sects had First Rank Land Immortals.
  • Yang Ling wondered why the four-layer Vajra Mingwang Technique seemed to offer a greater ceiling than the five-layer Mountain River Heart Method, and considered whether his method was incomplete.
  • Xu Qing explained that Third Rank was called Grandmaster and Second Rank was honored as Human Immortal.

Ch. 64Is Three Thousand Liang a Lot?

Yang Ling explained the Divine Domain’s dangers and economy to Wu Xiaochen, including why his three thousand liang spent joining the Mountain River Sect was valuable. The two discussed Wu Xiaochen’s strong position among Players, and Yang Ling learned that chopping Vajra Bamboo earned him Experience Points.

  • Wu Xiaochen told Yang Ling that he had entered the Mountain River Sect with help from his wealthy godfather, who paid about three thousand liang.
  • Yang Ling explained that silver had substantial purchasing power in the Divine Domain, and Wu Xiaochen realized he might have traded it for millions of yuan in the real world.
  • Yang Ling warned Wu Xiaochen that Players might be unable to return and could truly die in the Divine Domain, making silver more useful than cash.
  • Yang Ling told Wu Xiaochen that the Mountain River Heart Method was a valuable Third-rate Inner Cultivation and that only a small fraction of Players had learned Martial Skills or Internal Skills.
  • Wu Xiaochen learned that his daily Vajra Bamboo chopping practice gave him Experience Points, and Yang Ling concluded that physical labor could earn Players experience.

Ch. 65You're Fired

  • Yang Ling had Chen Guoqing and the others house the new Players in Miner's Village, then gathered veteran Players at his courtyard.
  • Yang Ling introduced Wu Xiaochen as the ninth-ranked player on the Divine Realm Rank List and an official disciple of Mountain River Sect, surprising the Players.

Ch. 66You're Just Refugees

Yang Ling learned from Chen Guoqing and Emergency Department inspectors that millions of Players had entered the Divine Domain and that nobody had found a way back. When the inspectors asked to take over the Red Gold Mine, Yang Ling refused and warned them to focus on surviving and growing stronger.

  • Wu Xiaochen mined Red Gold as nearly two thousand people worked in Mine Tunnel No. 1, and Yang Ling estimated the mine could yield at least 3,500 jin each month.
  • Chen Guoqing told Yang Ling that at least two million Players had entered the Divine Domain and brought his coworkers, including Senior Inspector Luo Yu, to meet him.
  • Luo Yu said the country could not shut down the game's website, no Player had returned, and dying in the Divine Domain meant death.
  • A female Emergency Department officer asked Yang Ling to hand over management of the Red Gold Mine, but he argued that only someone strong enough could keep control of it.
  • Yang Ling told the inspectors to mine, earn money, and Level Up, then asked what would happen if nobody could return and everyone gradually entered the Divine Domain.

Ch. 67Iron Thorn Spider

Yang Ling investigated reports of Iron Thorn Spiders in Mine Tunnel No. 2 and discovered a Dark River beneath it, raising the possibility that it connected to the Overlord Ghost Spider’s route. The chapter ended with him finding Iron Thorn Spiders floating in the underground river.

  • Yang Ling focused on leveling up, mined Red Gold Ore, and put his new Free Attribute Point into Agility.
  • Chen Xu brought Yang Ling an Iron Thorn Spider corpse and reported that the spiders’ poisonous iron thorns could paralyze their victims.
  • Yang Ling entered Mine Tunnel No. 2 and killed thousands of Iron Thorn Spiders while using the Vajra Mingwang Technique, Lingxu Step, and Thief-Catching Saber Technique.
  • Yang Ling noticed his Ninth-Rank Official Saber had been badly damaged and decided he needed a better weapon.
  • Yang Ling searched deeper into the tunnel and found a hidden entrance to a churning Dark River, where he saw Iron Thorn Spiders floating on the water.

Ch. 68Preparations for the Boss Fight

Yang Ling obtained Fire Oil from Lin Yan to prepare for killing the Overlord Ghost Spider beneath the Red Gold Mine. He gathered the mine’s five managers and outlined a plan to lure the monster out and burn it, but admitted he could not match it in a direct fight.

  • Lin Yan told Yang Ling he had been assigned to lead Patrol Department Three and explained the division’s duties.
  • Yang Ling asked Lin Yan for Fire Oil to deal with the Mine Worms, and Lin Yan gave him the city’s stored supply while promising to account for it.
  • Yang Ling returned to the Red Gold Mine with more than a hundred pounds of Fire Oil and summoned Wu Xiaochen, Chen Xu, Chen Guoqing, Li Tianye, and Wang Haodong.
  • Yang Ling revealed his plan to lure the Overlord Ghost Spider from the Dark River, ignite the Fire Oil, and seal both ends of the passage.
  • Wu Xiaochen asked how strong the Ghost Spider was, and Yang Ling said he felt pressured by it and did not think he could defeat it head-on.

Ch. 69I'm Not Out Yet

Yang Ling’s plan to trap the Overlord Ghost Spider with Fire Oil failed when the spider sealed the exit, leaving him trapped underground and fighting for his life. The spider’s speed suddenly surpassed his, and it slammed him into a stone wall.

  • Yang Ling escaped through the water and signaled Wu Xiaochen, Chen Xu, and Li Tianye to block the first passage behind the Overlord Ghost Spider.
  • Wu Xiaochen, Chen Xu, and Li Tianye sealed the passage with nets and falling rocks while Chen Guoqing and Wang Haodong prepared to block the other exit with Fire Oil.
  • The Overlord Ghost Spider webbed the second exit and triggered its collapse, trapping Yang Ling inside before he could escape.
  • Yang Ling dodged the spider’s steel-sharp webs and attacks, but his Official Saber broke against its shell and his Red Gold Crane Beak Hoe could not pierce it.
  • The Overlord Ghost Spider suddenly accelerated past Yang Ling’s speed and struck him into a stone wall.

Ch. 70Invisibility Talisman

Yang Ling killed the level 101 Overlord Ghost Spider, gained three levels, and received an Invisibility Talisman from the Silver Treasure Chest it dropped. He reunited with the team and explained that the spider had collapsed the exit before they could use the Fire Oil.

  • Yang Ling endured the spider's attack until its death granted him and the others experience, restoring his strength and raising him to level 27.
  • Yang Ling spent his free attribute points on Agility and reclaimed first place on the Divine Realm Rank List.
  • The Overlord Ghost Spider's corpse vanished and left a Silver Treasure Chest, which gave Yang Ling an Invisibility Talisman that lasted five minutes when activated with Qi and Blood.
  • Yang Ling connected the tunnels and rejoined Wu Xiaochen and the others, who were confused about the missing spider and unused Fire Oil.
  • Yang Ling told the team that the spider had collapsed the exit early, preventing Chen Guoqing from igniting the Fire Oil, and confirmed that he had killed it.

Ch. 71Taking Office as Qingshan City Constable

Yang Ling returned to Qingshan City after Lin Yan was promoted and was asked to take over as Constable. He accepted after learning he could keep mining while overseeing the city, and Lin Yan arranged for him to receive a new uniform.

  • Old Zhao told Yang Ling that Lin Yan had been promoted and was calling him back to take over as Constable.
  • Yang Ling left Wu Xiaochen in charge of the Red Gold Mine and went to Qingshan City with Chen Xu and the others.
  • Lin Yan explained that he would leave for Changhe Prefecture the next day and wanted Yang Ling to succeed him as Constable.

  • Lin Yan, Old Zhao, and the other constables urged Yang Ling to accept, and Yang Ling agreed to take the position.
  • Lin Yan had Old Zhao change Yang Ling into a new uniform.

Ch. 72Filial Tribute

Lin Yan introduced Yang Ling to Qingshan City’s influential merchants and gang leaders before leaving him in charge of the local Iron Clothes Department Yamen. • Yang Ling refused Zhang Wei’s toast because he was on official duty, and Qi Dalong sent Zhang Wei to brew tea.
  • Qi Dalong asked Yang Ling about Wu Que, and Yang Ling revealed that Wu Que had been confirmed as a Rong Tribe spy.
  • Tie Xinghu emerged from behind the hall, identified himself as the one interested in Wu Que, and judged Yang Ling’s strength to be near Eighth Rank.
  • Zhang Wei realized the hall had been surrounded by Qi Dalong’s Blade Hands and feared he was doomed.

Ch. 75Upper Eighth Rank?

Yang Ling killed Tie Xinghu and the Snake Gang’s Blade Hands at the banquet, then confronted Gang Leader Qi Dalong. Qi mistook Yang Ling for an Upper Eighth Rank agent from the Capital and offered silver to save his life, while Zhang Wei searched Tie Xinghu’s corpse and found twelve Spirit Nurturing Pills.

  • Yang Ling leveled up, put his free Attribute Point into Agility, and killed Tie Xinghu, leaving Qi Dalong and the Blade Hands stunned.
