The B-rank Jaeger known as the "Frostwind Warrior" instinctively twitched, as if the cold wind had truly scraped his bones. He sighed heavily to himself and turned to look behind him.
In his line of sight stood a woman in loose athletic wear, a green armband identical to his tied around her sleeve. She was leaning against the wall, a safe ten meters away.
Behind her, the sign of the now-closed restaurant still flickered with dim light, casting a hint of murderous chill over her. Then the light suddenly went out. In the intermittent glow, her features had already grown indistinct, leaving only a pair of gleaming black eyes.
She was petite, with a sweet, rounded face that still held a touch of baby fat. Her long black hair was tied up at the back in a dignified, ladylike bun. But her dark-jade eyes shone with extraordinary brightness, as if they concealed flames at a rolling boil. Though she had the figure of a young woman in the prime of her youth, she stood there like a divine sword drawn from its sheath.
"Mr. Pier, do you need help?" she asked again.
Ethan Pier sighed and let his hands fall naturally to his sides. "Miss Countess, you shouldn't be here..."
The green armband meant she, too, was one of the Jaegers participating in this operation to restore order in Ice Valley City. And who else in the Jaeger Association could be called "Miss Countess" except Gongsun Qing, whose name had been entered into the Imperial Heraldry Office's records and who was regarded as the heir to the Count of Yongdi, yet still retained her Commonwealth citizenship?
Gongsun Qing lowered her hands from where she had folded them across her chest. "Do you mean I should be resting today? That may
