Yu Lian quickly made another force-field leap, putting some distance between himself and Blackros. The moment he landed, he saw a monster a few dozen meters away that was enough to make his sanity meter drop, and his mouth twitched.
But on closer inspection, it was clearly just an enormous mushroom. It was made of twisted white bones and gruesome flesh, and it kept spraying invisible, intangible toxins in every direction.
The toxins were useless against a Fourth Ring like Yu Lian, but they would be deadly to ordinary people. Even the air-filtration systems in standard-issue military exoskeletons probably couldn't withstand them.
"...Well, that's one hell of a big red umbrella and white stalk!"
Yu Lian swept his gaze around. Within sight, he spotted seven or eight giant mushrooms and more than a dozen other bizarre monsters. He also saw the Twelfth Garrison Division's position about four or five kilometers away. The valiant grenadiers were desperately fighting off the monsters, struggling to hold their lines.
Right, keep it up! Yu Lian offered the hard-fighting Imperial soldiers an utterly insincere cheer, raised his atomic lance, and fired a disintegration beam. The giant mushroom closest to him was blasted into particles.
As expected, they were conglomerate voidbeasts. This was the final frenzy of the fragments of the Otherworld that had spilled out. Even if left alone, they would all dissipate on their own within a few hours at most.
Yu Lian relaxed a little, then turned to look at Blackros.
