Two minutes earlier, after Crystal City had fired its first shot at Black Rose, Colonel Jaeger Sobek stared through his targeting scope at Black Rose and Yu Lian, who appeared completely unharmed. He immediately panicked.
They were only unharmed on the surface. At the very least, that shell wrapped in talisman paper had successfully neutralized the Void energy and disrupted Black Rose's plan. Without the vast power supplied by the Void energy, the nanomachines forming his space wings had naturally lost their ability to warp.
The shot had been a perfect success, well worth a reward of twenty jin of sweet potato liquor.
But Sobek and his buddies in Crystal City didn't know that!
All they could see through their sensors was that the steel giant, who looked like an obvious boss, had landed safely. The immense creature looked to weigh at least a dozen tons, yet it had touched down as lightly as a falling leaf. At a glance, it seemed completely unaffected by the bombardment.
Sobek's mouth twitched, and he shook his head with a sigh. "We shouldn't have used the railgun."
"Indeed. The railgun makes too much noise, is difficult to aim, and its power inside an atmosphere is still inferior to its power in outer space. That said, the enemy's armor is very thick, so I thought a kinetic strike would be more effective," Ye Hai Luo explained.
That's not what I'm worried about! I'm wondering, since all the Void monsters in the city are gone, can we tear the talisman paper off the remaining shells? These things can neutralize Void monsters. We could keep a few for emergencies and sell the rest on the black market for a tidy sum. Firing one off like that was such a waste!
"Then should we use energy weapons?
