One of the robots even streaked past barely a hundred meters from the Swift's straight-line position. Only then did Yu Lian finally get a clear look at it. It was a construct roughly ten meters long, with a streamlined diamond shape. It bore some resemblance to the unmanned escort drones widely used by the major civilizations.

Yu Lian was sure that these ancient robots could swat down the drones escorting them about as easily as an experienced psionic warrior could beat up an ordinary soldier. And then, to deal with his Swift, which lacked even basic antiaircraft capabilities, they wouldn't even need to fire. They could simply shift position and ram it.

"Thirty-eight left. All the security robots have been deployed," Little Gray said. "If you're their primary target, there's an eighty percent chance we'll be shot down before we reach our destination. You're lucky to have such a reliable comrade."
That was true. Yu Lian glanced back at Count Black Moon.
"I've been making my way through the world for many years, but in the end, I'm just a thief. I never learned how to break through enemy lines or slay foes, but I did pick up a few tricks for keeping out of sight." Count Black Moon smiled.
