But Yu Lian and his friends aboard the Throne weren't particularly frightened. The moment the snarling behemoth entered the drone's scanning range, its position and real-time biological data were transmitted to the Throne.
So the radar, enhanced by Little Gray, swept directly across the planet's atmosphere, bringing the entire enormous creature into its range.
It was a hundred-meter-long behemoth, with a spindle-shaped body. At first glance, it looked like a gigantic whale that had made the sea of clouds its home. Yet at the boundary between the clouds and outer space, its body appeared almost as transparent as glass, as if draped in a veil of dreamlike mist. Hints of countless colors flowed across its outline, but in the end, all that remained was a hazy silhouette, almost impossible to distinguish with the naked eye.
That was probably the flying behemoth's camouflage, but a creature that enormous being able to fly and change color was deeply unscientific, and challenged everyone's common sense. There was only one explanation: it was a spirit beast with psychic abilities.
"This is a new kind of spirit beast we've never seen before!" First Mate Kong said in a tentative tone. "Wouldn't it be worth studying?"
"It would, but that's not our specialty. A rough analysis will do," Yu Lian said with a smile. "Still, we can at least confirm that this is a thriving planet, full of life and rich in spiritual energy."
