The Life Master glanced at the Karma Master. "Nonsense. I'm dealing with the Death Lord because I'm certain the Three Laws won't fall. The reason we joined forces was to prepare for the possibility that the Three Laws might collapse in the future. You don't think those two things contradict each other, do you?"
Lu Yin wiped the blood from the corner of his mouth. "They don't."
The Life Master fixed him with a murderous glare.
Lu Yin smiled. "Because it's only a possibility. The future stretches across endless years, and there are too many variables. You've joined forces only as a way to prepare for a possible crisis. No matter how you fight, as long as the Three Laws exist, your lives won't truly be in danger."
"But if one day the Three Laws can no longer protect the Masters, your secret alliance will be the greatest weapon for dealing with the other Masters."
"You have plenty of ways to kill them."
The Death Lord growled, "Utter nonsense."
"That's one reason," Lu Yin said. Then he turned to the Time Master. "I'll give you another reason you have to join forces with me to kill the Death Lord."
"Do you know who's currently flowing upstream?"
"Many of Xiang City's experts are among them. Saint Shang knows that. But besides them, there's also a group of Reverse Ancients. Surely you haven't forgotten how a group of Reverse Ancients suddenly attacked the last Time Ancient City you had on the surface?"
The Time Master looked at the Karma Master.
