When the human Empire split apart, there should originally have been Three Kingdoms.
But the Southern Empire's emperor was a reckless gambler. The Western Empire had beaten him so badly that he had lost all sense of direction. Then, after finally managing to win a battle with the Eastern Empire's help, he defeated the Western Empire on his own—but gained no advantage, and even had his population relocated.
This reckless gambler, who had no clear idea of his own strength, still wanted to keep gambling. He went all in again, and his entire army was burned to ashes.
The Western Empire had also been burned by the Eastern Empire, but it had a much thicker health bar.
There was a similar story in the Demon Race's own history. They sent a great army on an expedition against the Dragon Race, only for humans to rise up and raid their homeland.
After the Demon Race occupied the Central Lands, they launched an expedition against the Northern Empire, only to be defeated in the icy wasteland. A million soldiers froze to death in the bitter winter.
In the past twenty years of war, Leon had encountered this combination of gambler and farmer, too.
It had made the Empire exceptionally difficult to defeat.
The gambler was Isa.
The farmer was Charles.
The result was that the gambler nearly killed herself in a single battle, but the farmer was still there, and the Empire still had a very thick health bar.
With the gambler having won enough wars, Charles was able to quietly tend to his fields for a few years and bring the war to an end.
Although Isa had now been remade as Freya, and their plan had succeeded—the Empire had been blown apart, and their revenge was complete—
