Background / History

Gu Chen initially exploits the popularity of martial-arts videos and the novel Dragon Snake to collect Origin Points. He uses them to refine martial artists into reality, distribute them around Cloud Hidden Mountain, and promote national martial arts through carefully staged events. While controlling a Pillaring Grandmaster avatar, he adopts the alias Li Hansha and travels toward Fuzhou. 3

He develops the Human Immortal Martial Dao as both a personal cultivation path and a public supernatural framework. Through Li Hansha, he opens paths in the Wu Ming Ruins, releases Basiba’s demonized remnant under controlled circumstances, and turns resulting conflicts into increasingly influential spectacles. 36 49

Gu Chen later creates Pei Canghai, a Martial Dao Human Immortal with 1.08 million acupoints. Pei Canghai is effectively a second clone: Gu Chen can project his consciousness into him, while the body retains its own memories and behavioral settings when unattended. 53

After establishing Daoist cultivation through the Daotang Grotto-Heaven Small World, Gu Chen begins using larger historical and mythological scenarios—including Immortal Han, Mythical Great Qin, the Hundred Schools of Thought, and the Shang-Zhou Investiture of the Gods world—to expand Blue Star’s supernatural foundation and accumulate Origin Points. 134 176 230 306

Following his ascension beyond mortality, Gu Chen separates into a Pure Yang Immortal Body that remains behind the scenes and a mortal body that continues operating publicly. The latter commands military forces, handles political affairs, and serves as a visible authority within Shang Tang. 299 336

Appearance

Gu Chen is usually perceived as an unusually young and handsome man with an ordinary build, causing many martial artists and onlookers to underestimate him. His appearance varies significantly when he acts through avatars or adopts historical identities. 74 141

  • Often wears a black tracksuit in modern settings. 69 74
  • His Blood Changing cultivation causes him to emit a distinctive natural fragrance. 77
  • In the Daotang Grotto-Heaven, he grows long black hair, ties it into a Daoist-style topknot, and changes into coarse linen clothing. 125 126
  • His Pei Canghai avatar has appeared in plain clothes with hair tied in a simple bun, projecting a calm but oppressive presence. 61
  • As a Golden Immortal, he can transform into a golden war-god-like form while wielding the Human Immortal Martial Dao. 440
  • His mortal body later appears in Blackbird Emperor robes while presiding over the Investiture Platform. 358

Personality

Gu Chen is patient, calculating, and highly conscious of public perception. He prefers to reveal supernatural phenomena gradually, planting clues and creating uncertainty so that discoveries feel valuable and generate more Origin Points. 126 176 230

He is cautious about control. When manifesting beings, cultivation systems, and artifacts, he installs settings, backdoors, or contingency plans to ensure they cannot turn against him. 53 355

Despite increasingly treating the world as a grand script, Gu Chen occasionally seeks ordinary experiences to retain his humanity. After gaining immense power, he becomes concerned that his role as a mastermind is distancing him from ordinary emotions and life. 160 298

He can be playful and teasing toward people he finds interesting, but usually conceals his true cultivation and intentions from even his closest acquaintances. 54 77 118
