Deep within the dense forest, outside a hidden cave.
"This is your promotion gift."
Shinji took an exquisitely bound book from his backpack. Judging from the cover alone, it looked like an ordinary novel, but no one knew that it was a Little Yellow Book he had exchanged for one hundred Points in the System Shop.
[Item: Little Yellow Book] [Type: Book] [Effect: A must-read for gentlemen; possesses a fatal allure for certain groups.]
Kakashi had just been promoted to jonin, the first among their peers. Nohara Rin had suggested that everyone prepare a gift together, and the others had each offered a token of their goodwill.
"Thanks." Kakashi's tone was flat as he accepted it and casually weighed it in his hand. "Not bad. At least someone put more thought into it than a certain person."
He shot Obito a meaningful glance. The remark was clearly directed at him.
Obito's expression darkened, and his tone immediately turned hostile. "Like I'd prepare any gift for you!"
He had already gotten into a serious argument with Kakashi over the matter of gifts. Now that it had been exposed in front of everyone, he felt unable to save face and snorted heavily.
Obito abruptly rose to his feet and strode out of the camp without looking back.
"Obito!"
Seeing this, Minato immediately set aside what he was doing and hurried after him.
Kakashi merely shrugged indifferently, then walked over to a corner and sat down without saying a word, his entire presence as cold as a silent block of ice.
Watching this scene, Shinji had a rough idea of what was happening. This was probably the point in the story where Minato went to speak with Obito alone, intending to tell him about Kakashi's father.
He turned to glance at Kakashi in the corner again and frowned inwardly.
"Kakashi's condition is pretty serious."
He knew very well that Kakashi still had not recovered from the blow of his father's suicide. He had kept himself shut away, indifferent to the outside world, carrying an almost self-destructive apathy.
Ninjas nowadays had to go to war frequently from a young age, carry out missions, and even stain their hands with blood themselves. Yet throughout Konoha, no one truly cared about these children's mental health.
At that thought, Shinji could not help clicking his tongue softly.
He walked to the other side of the campfire, where Nohara Rin was treating Kurenai Yuhi's wound. A faint green glow of Chakra covered her palm as she gently pressed it against Kurenai's bloodstained shoulder.
During the earlier battle, Kurenai had failed to dodge in time and been struck by the wind from an enemy blade, suffering a minor injury.
Kurenai's tightly furrowed brows gradually relaxed. Her wound was clearly healing quickly.
"Obito..." Rin looked in the direction he had left, her eyes full of worry.
"Lord Minato went after him. Don't worry," Shinji reassured her softly.
Rin nodded gently, silently praying, I hope Sensei can talk Obito through this properly.
Watching Rin treat Kurenai so attentively, Shinji pondered briefly before speaking. "Rin, can you teach me medical ninjutsu?"
"Our team has always lacked a dedicated Medical Ninja. If I can learn it, I'll at least be able to help Kurenai and Asuma in time."
"Besides, you're the only Medical Ninja I know! You're the best Medical Ninja among our peers."
Upon hearing his praise, Rin's cheeks first grew slightly warm.
Then she smiled and said modestly, "I'm not the best!"
Kurenai Yuhi also felt a warmth in her heart.
"I didn't expect Shinji to be thinking so much for our team!"
Rin had some concerns as well. Medical ninjutsu was never something that could be mastered easily.
"Won't this delay your own training?"
Shinji smiled. He had a cheat!
"I've recently learned Detoxification Jutsu and Healing Jutsu."
Both were C-rank ninjutsu, and with his [Medical Affinity] talent, he had mastered them without spending much effort.
"Really?" Rin looked astonished.
She had never expected Shinji to care so much about medical ninjutsu. Their relationship was already somewhat subtle, and now an indescribable sense of closeness rose in her heart.
Shinji nodded gently, his tone warm. "Kurenai, can I try it on you? You suffered a minor injury in that last battle, so you're perfect for me to practice on."
Kurenai Yuhi immediately nodded. "Of course! Medical ninjutsu is so rare. If you can learn it, our team's chances of survival will definitely increase greatly."
As he spoke, Shinji moved over. Kurenai and Rin sat opposite him, the three of them close together in a very harmonious atmosphere.
Shinji took a deep breath and gathered Chakra in his palm. His hand gently stroked from her arm to her shoulder, slowly seeping into the shallow wound.
"Kurenai, do you feel anything?"
"It's a little itchy, and kind of warm. It feels really comfortable."
"No, Shinji, you need to do it like this. Right, just like that, and then like this!"
The three chatted happily.
Meanwhile, Minato slowly returned to camp with Obito.
Obito's expression was no longer as ugly as it had been when he left. Minato had already told him, in full detail, about Kakashi's father.
The resentment that had built up for so long had vanished, replaced by an unshakable resolve. He even secretly vowed that he would save Kakashi, whose heart had closed itself off.
He fixed Kakashi, who was sitting in the corner, with a blazing gaze. "Kakashi, I'll definitely catch up to you, and I'll prove that your current beliefs are wrong! Someone who doesn't cherish their comrades is worse than trash!"
The moment he finished speaking, his gaze inadvertently swept toward the other side of the campfire. The determination in his eyes instantly shattered. He rubbed his eyes reflexively, thinking he had seen wrong.
"What is Shinji doing?"
"He... he seems to be groping Kurenai Yuhi!"
"Bastard! He's taking advantage of her!"
"No, that's not right... Why is he touching Rin now? Touching her all over!"
What confused him even more was that neither Kurenai Yuhi nor Nohara Rin looked angry in the slightest. Instead, both wore serious expressions, their eyes fixed on Shinji's movements. They even nodded from time to time.
"Could they be under a genjutsu?" Unable to watch any longer, Obito suddenly shouted, "Shinji, stop! What are you doing?!"
That urgent cry immediately startled Asuma awake, where he had been sleeping against a tree trunk nearby.
He jolted, straightened up, and asked in a lowered voice, "What happened?!"
At the same time, his eyes rapidly swept over the surroundings.
Everyone's gazes landed squarely on Shinji and the two girls.
Shinji himself was utterly baffled. He had no idea why Obito had suddenly told him to stop.
After quite a while, the matter was finally explained. Shinji looked helplessly at Obito. "I was really just discussing medical ninjutsu with Rin."
He swore that he had not harbored the slightest improper thought just now. Besides, they were deep within enemy territory.
Obito's face flushed red, and even his voice stammered. "I-I saw you just now... doing that!"
As he spoke, he unconsciously made a gesture like he was about to caress someone.
Kurenai Yuhi's cheeks instantly turned scarlet. "Idiot Obito, what nonsense are you talking about?!"
Rin also turned away, embarrassed and annoyed, though a strange feeling quietly surfaced in her heart, making her feel a little guilty.
Minato quickly smiled to smooth things over. "Obito, they were only discussing ninjutsu."
Secretly, though, he wiped the cold sweat from his brow. Are kids these days really so complicated?
Obito scratched his head awkwardly, wishing he could dig a hole in the ground with his toes and crawl into it.
Kakashi, meanwhile, crossed his arms and shot him an amused glance before coolly uttering two words. "Dead last."
After saying that, he picked up the book Shinji had given him, found a quiet corner, and began reading it in silence.
Since I have nothing better to do, I'll take a look at this book Shinji gave me!
