Sarutobi Hiruzen prepared Konoha for the Hollow threat and convened the Five Kage Summit as Moryo escaped its seal. Meanwhile, the Branch Family challenged the Hyuga Main Branch, and Naruto began school and made his first classmates.

• Sarutobi Hiruzen set Konoha’s Hollow countermeasures in motion, reorganized the Police Force, and appointed Hyuga Yunchuan and Hatake Kakashi as his summit guards.
• Might Guy drew Gluttony, whose Mutual Devouring ability consumed matter and energy and began adapting Guy to harsh conditions.
• Shadow helped Hizashi impersonate Hyuga Hiashi and offered him a way to break the Caged Bird Cursed Seal, while Hizashi decided to target Main Branch members who had mastered it.
• Shadow and Hanzo confronted Shinno over Zero-Tails, while Akatsuki recruited Shinno, Hiruko, and Sasori and began its Tailed Beast Capture Plan.
• Naruto started at the Ninja Academy, befriended Ryosuke Chiba and Karin, and met Sasuke, while Yunchuan and Hiruzen arrived in the Land of Demons and sensed Moryo, Orochimaru, and Obito.
• Hyuga Takashi defeated Hyuga Yoto in their duel, but Yoto used the Caged Bird on him and later accused him after someone injured Yoto and gouged out his eyes.
• Orochimaru, Obito, and Yomi released Moryo, which empowered them, covered their faces with bone masks, and sent Yomi to lead the Ghost Army against the Five Kage.
• Miroku revealed that Moryo had become an Espada-class Hollow, and Sarutobi Hiruzen proposed that the Kage share intelligence and coordinate their response as he explained how Hollows evolved.

Hyuga Yunchuan and the allied shinobi defeated Moryo, but his vision of destruction sent the villages scrambling to prepare for a new threat. In Konoha, Neji and Iroha moved against the Main Branch after Takashi was arrested, leaving Lingren and Yoto facing a choice of who would survive.

• Rasa provoked the Kage by suggesting White Fang was Hatake Sakumo, while Kakashi struggled with the possibility that his father had become a Hollow.
• The Ghost Army broke through the shrine’s defenses, and Miroku asked Hyuga Yunchuan to accept the Shrine Maiden’s power and defeat Moryo.
• Pain’s forces attacked Sunagakure and extracted Shukaku from Gaara, while Kakuzu’s forces searched Kumogakure for Gyuki.
• Orochimaru and Uchiha Obito attacked the Kage’s forces, but Hyuga Yunchuan returned and battled Orochimaru’s Rock Giant before Obito escaped with Orochimaru.
• Neji and Iroha chose to resist the Main Branch after Takashi was arrested and tortured, and Neji admitted he had killed two Main Branch members and taken their Byakugan.
• The Kage and their allies found Moryo’s cocoon, but Moryo emerged and wounded several leaders before Hyuga Yunchuan arrived and fought it.
• Hyuga Yunchuan used the Shrine Maiden’s power to destroy Moryo, then warned the survivors that his vision showed the villages devastated and the Tailed Beasts released.
• Iroha and his allies infiltrated the dungeon, crippled Lingren, and killed Tokuma, while Iroha left Lingren and Yoto to decide which one would live.

The Hyuga Branch Family’s revolt against the Main Branch collided with Neji’s pursuit of the Tenseigan, while Danzo’s plans and Wrath’s flames unleashed Hollows. As Konoha came under a Sky Ninja assault and Sunagakure lay buried beneath the sand, Neji and Yunchuan clashed and the village’s defenders struggled to protect civilians.

• Hyuga Yoto killed Hyuga Lingren, then Hyuga Takashi killed Yoto as Hyuga Iroha and his allies moved to seize control of the clan, while Danzo turned against the Main Branch elders and revealed his plan to make them Hollows.
• Hyuga Neji entered Hiashi’s hidden chamber and fought the man he believed was Hiashi, then learned that the dying man was his father Hizashi, who had secretly taken Hiashi’s place and sacrificed himself to give Neji a chance at freedom.
• Neji took Hizashi’s Byakugan and fought Hinata, Aoi, and Homura, then Wrath’s golden flames burned through the Hyuga compound and purified the Hollows forming from the dead.
• Sky Ninjas bombed Konoha as Pain’s forces entered the village, while Rasa discovered that Sunagakure had been buried and learned that Gaara had become a powerful Hollow after Shukaku was extracted.
• Corpse Bone killed Rasa and fought Gaara beneath the buried village as Hiruzen, Kakashi, and Yunchuan responded to the attack on Konoha.
• Yunchuan confronted Neji in the secret chamber, but Neji escaped after binding Yunchuan and Aoi, and Yunchuan awakened the Tenseigan and flew off to defend Konoha.
• Ooyashiro En killed Ebisu and turned pinned Konoha ninja into Human Bombs, while Jiraiya ordered civilian evacuations, Tsunade summoned Katsuyu to heal the wounded, and Hiruzen arrived at the Hokage Building.

Pain and the Sky Ninja devastated Konoha, but Hyuga Yunchuan’s awakened power broke Chibaku Tensei and destroyed the Sky Fortress. As Yunchuan lay unconscious, the other villages faced new threats and Konoha’s leaders considered his uncertain future.

• Deva Path Pain attacked Konoha as Jiraiya coordinated the village’s defense against Shinno’s Sky Ninja, while Kakashi and Yahiko confronted Pain.
• Naruto helped care for the wounded in the shelter and learned from Yunshi how betrayal and hatred had shaped Nagato’s pursuit of peace.
• Ooyashiro En broke into the shelter and threatened its occupants, but Hyuga Yunchuan subdued him before the Sky Ninja’s cannon struck.
• Naruto unleashed Kurama’s chakra to protect the shelter, while Yunchuan shielded survivors with his wings and later fought Pain alongside Jiraiya, Kakashi, and Yahiko.
• Pain unleashed Chibaku Tensei, and Yunchuan’s starry eyes awakened as Konoha’s fighters failed to reach its core.
• Yunchuan pierced Chibaku Tensei with Golden Wheel Reincarnation Explosion, splitting the mass and slicing through the Sky Fortress before collapsing.
• Pakura’s surviving Sunagakure forces encountered Orochimaru, while the Fourth Raikage rescued Killer B from Akatsuki’s attack on Kumogakure.
• Kohinata Mujie began guiding Neji after Yunchuan’s defection, as Konoha’s leaders and friends gathered around the unconscious Yunchuan and Danzō resolved to make him a puppet.
