The smell of disinfectant in the corridors of Konoha Hospital was somewhat pungent.
Uchiha Kai and Hyuga Rei walked side by side. One hand carried a fruit basket stuffed with all kinds of fruit, while the other held a meal box that could barely contain its aroma.

Hyuga Rei lifted the crudely made yet practical fruit basket in her hand, which could hold a great deal of fruit.
"It looks exactly like the kind used to feed animals..." The girl hunched her neck.
"Haha, it's fine. For Kei, being able to recognize that it's a fruit basket is already good enough. If you gave him fancy packaging, he'd only find it troublesome. This is better."
Uchiha Kai raised his eyebrows and imitated Morino Kei's exaggerated manner of eating.

As they chatted, they arrived outside the ward. After knocking three times, they pushed the door open and entered.

The slightly aged wooden door let out a harsh squeal. As the two stepped inside, they saw a somewhat "heartwarming" scene.
A beautiful woman in a pale-white dress sat beside the hospital bed, holding a bowl of steaming meat porridge. Her tender lips, smooth as polished jade, opened and closed as she blew on the porridge to cool it.
A tall young man lay sprawled on the bed, looking thoroughly content. If not for the exaggerated bandages wrapped around his back, one might have thought he was on vacation.
"Ah~"
Chishima Tsurume brought a spoonful of cooled meat porridge to Morino Kei's mouth.
The young man swallowed it in one bite and revealed a blissful smile.
"Mmm—this is what life is all about."
He had not noticed
