The fighting in Seireitei gradually died down, and the cries of battle had all but faded.
Surrounded by his followers, Kenma arrived at the Confession Palace.
As the building at the very center of Seireitei, and the one standing at the highest elevation, it offered an exceptionally broad view.
From here, the whole of Seireitei could be taken in at a glance.
The army had broken into Seireitei from the Shadow Space, launching nearly simultaneous attacks on a city lulled by peace.
Nobunaga had led his men to seize the Confession Palace and turn it into their command headquarters.
When Kenma reached the Execution Chamber at the top of the Confession Palace, he found that it had been completely remodeled.
All four walls had been knocked down to clear the view. Radio sets filled the room, along with dozens of Den Den Mushi.
People bustled back and forth, and noise filled the air, yet there was no sign of disorder.
Everything was busy but organized.
Nobunaga still held a Den Den Mushi, his perpetually animated face laying his emotions bare.
At the sight of Kenma, his lips spread into a delighted grin that bordered on savage.
"Gahahaha! Kenma, things went just as we predicted before the battle."
"The Shinigami of Seireitei never saw us coming. Faced with our army's sudden assault, they couldn't mount an effective defense at all. We broke through them with ease."
"By now, the major pockets of resistance in Seireitei have been wiped out, and our forces have successfully occupied every part of the city. There may still be a few scattered holdouts, but they won't amount to anything."
He spread his arms, his face still flushed with the excitement of victory.
"We've won this war!"
"Seireitei is ours!"
