These people had been starving in the basement for who knew how long. Nearly all of them had only a breath left, looking like skin stretched over bones. Some did not even have the strength to crawl up from the floor.
Qi Xing was not the sort of vicious person who made an ox plow the fields without feeding it.
So he gave the Crew Cut Man to them.
Qi Xing swept an expressionless gaze over the gaunt, starving crowd. His eyes were sharp and cold, his voice indifferent. "Once you have the strength, start working."
The men and women kneeling on the floor had initially thought he was a kind soul sent by heaven to save them, but they had not expected this to be black eating black.
They were either original residents of the village or passersby like Qi Xing and Jiang Zhaosu. They had tried to rescue the Crew Cut Man and Square Face out of kindness, only to be knocked unconscious and tied up here as human livestock.
Even the kindest person would have their values and beliefs changed after enduring the physical and mental torment of the basement day and night.
Now that they saw the Crew Cut Man, who had relied on his supernatural ability to humiliate and torment them at will, reduced to such a state, they all felt utterly satisfied.
The Crew Cut Man lay sprawled on the ground, his entire body charred by flames. The blackened flesh gave off the tantalizing scent of roasted meat.
The group first fell silent at Qi Xing's cruel words, then exchanged looks.
They could all see each other's Adam's apples bobbing.
Over there, Jiang Zhaosu had already begun eating, the sound of her chewing carrying clearly over.
After the dozen or so people remained silent for several seconds, someone moved a step toward the Crew Cut Man.
Then someone else cautiously reached out toward him. Their skeletal fingers, like a ghost's claws, gripped the Crew Cut Man's muscular, sturdy thigh.
Once one person took the lead, the rest swarmed over in an instant, their eyes glowing with an eerie green light as they seized the Crew Cut Man's limbs like beasts.
"Aaaahhh!!!"
The Crew Cut Man, who had been burned unconscious, was forcibly awakened by the pain.
When he opened his eyes and saw what was happening to his body, he was scared out of his wits. He twisted and struggled nonstop on the ground, letting out shrill screams.
"Don't... don't touch me! Get away! You animals, you beasts!!!"
But his entire body was riddled with fractures, and all four limbs were paralyzed. The tide had turned.
No matter how violently he struggled, to outsiders, he looked no different from a maggot writhing and rolling before death.
Not a single person answered him.
Thus, amid extreme terror and agony, the Crew Cut Man died glaring, his courage shattered, his bloodshot eyes bulging.
Hearing his screams, Jiang Zhaosu turned back and saw his condition. Her eyes instantly widened, as though the sky had fallen.
Damn it, wasn't the Crew Cut Man hers?
Qi Xing had people gather food for him, so why was he giving away her food?
Qi Xing stood there calmly, watching the scene before him with great interest.
Jiang Zhaosu hurriedly rose from her crouch, ran to Qi Xing's side, and tugged at the hem of his clothes.
When Qi Xing lowered his head to look at her, Jiang Zhaosu pointed at the Crew Cut Man with her dagger, anxiously hopping twice as she howled at him, "Awooo!"
That was mine! Mine!
After spending the past two days with her, Qi Xing had begun to grasp her zombie language.
"Don't you already have one? You want this one too?"
"Awoo!"
Yes!!
"He's too dirty." Qi Xing patted her back soothingly and spoke to her as though humoring a child. "Fortune, give him to them. Don't keep him."
Aaaaaah!
That was because Qi Xing had refused to use any of his many cool moves just now and insisted on smearing the man's face with dead grass covered in feces.
Not only was the damage high, but the humiliation was even greater.
At the thought that this man had feces in his mouth, on his face, and all over his body, Jiang Zhaosu truly felt a little...
Forget it.
Square Face alone was enough.
Jiang Zhaosu was only worried that following Qi Xing would mean having food one meal and none the next. Unable to control herself, she wanted to stockpile more provisions.
Once those people recovered some strength, they went upstairs and searched the village households for food and gasoline for Qi Xing.
With the food supply suddenly cut in half, Jiang Zhaosu immediately felt she needed to be frugal. She restrained herself and stopped after eating only half her fill.
Square Face's pants had been sliced to shreds around the lower half by her dagger, leaving him with only a pair of tight briefs.
Qi Xing frowned slightly when he saw it.
He had a younger sister too.
Thinking of how those two men had looked at Jiang Zhaosu earlier made a wave of disgust rise in his chest.
After Jiang Zhaosu got up from the ground, Qi Xing suddenly pulled her into his arms.
Qi Xing was much taller than her. He gripped beneath her arms with both hands and easily lifted her up like a doll, smiling as he asked, "Fortune, did you ever go to an Amusement Park when you were little?"
Jiang Zhaosu had no idea what madness Qi Xing was about to pull again. "?"
Qi Xing said, "Big brother will play a game with you."
Qi Xing exerted a little force with his arms and lightly tossed her off the ground.
Jiang Zhaosu suddenly became weightless. Like she was bouncing high, she shot upward, then rapidly fell back down and stomped heavily onto Square Face's stomach.
No matter how small and skinny she was, she still weighed seventy or eighty pounds. On top of that, there was the added force of her fall.
Square Face had already screamed himself hoarse earlier.
Now, the most vulnerable and tender part of his body took a heavy blow. Like a fish stranded on shore, Square Face's eyes bulged, his mouth gaped wide, and his features twisted as he let out a soundless scream.
A mouthful of yellow-green bile sprayed from his lips, white foam spilling from the corners of his mouth.
"Look, a trampoline!" Qi Xing asked with a smile. "Isn't it fun?"
Jiang Zhaosu, who was being tossed around like a balloon: "..."
Sir, if you wanted to relive your childhood, please jump by yourself.
Could you not use her as a toy? Thanks.
Qi Xing tossed her a few more times. When he saw that Jiang Zhaosu did not look excited at all and was instead staring at him with an utterly speechless expression, he clicked his tongue in disappointment. "Fortune, how can you be so young yet act like such a little old zombie? You're no fun."
Jiang Zhaosu rolled her eyes at him, too lazy even to respond.
She was an adult to begin with. Qi Xing was simply too blind to see it.
"Oh my, when you're hungry, you howl at me for food. Once you're full, you ignore me."
The moment everyone else left, Qi Xing's aloof and indifferent demeanor vanished. He returned to his usual unserious self, speaking in a sticky, teasing tone with a rising lilt, clearly harboring mischievous intentions as he mocked her.
"How heartless, Fortune. Big brother is heartbroken."
"Awoo!"
Go die somewhere else!
Anyway, Qi Xing could not understand what she was saying, so Jiang Zhaosu boldly cursed him.
But that bad man Qi Xing, with his countless tricks, seemed able to read minds. He blinked, his long lashes fluttering, and asked innocently, "Fortune, were you cursing big brother? How can a child curse people?"
Jiang Zhaosu: "???"
Seeing Jiang Zhaosu guiltily glance away, Qi Xing knew he had guessed right. "Fortune is naughty!"
Qi Xing pulled her fiercely into his arms as though petting a cat, covering the top of her head with his palm and rubbing Jiang Zhaosu's nest-like doll hair into an even messier tangle.
Jiang Zhaosu struggled a few times. When her resistance proved futile, she simply let Qi Xing torment her hair.
The basement air was foul and murky. After joking with her for a few more moments, Qi Xing carried her up the stairs.
Jiang Zhaosu lay against Qi Xing's chest, her round eyes peering over his straight, beautifully shaped shoulders as she watched herself move farther and farther away from the cold, damp basement.
Though her body was cold, Qi Xing's arms around her were warm.
After eating her fill, Jiang Zhaosu's stomach was warm too.
Living like this did not seem so bad.
